Nothing new to any post-soviet developer. But what are you expecting from Ukraine developers with salary $200 per month? They are hiring boys rght form the school bench. They uses pirated 3d max, Windows , Photoshop and Lightwave. On the Frogwares Ukraine, we has huge case with CD's full of warez.

For hiring somebody like Kenneth Scott for texturing, their managers should sell their livers

Yes that might be the situation in Ukraine but i dont think its the fact with GSC.Dont you think they would be losing more money then they would be gaining if they would use pirated software and would be stealing others work.

Montella, 2002 version didn't had this kind of dynamic lights which could use D3 light maps (there was no D3 at the time either), but anyways, those lights are used in the Final game, ie. the flashlight is from D3. They've stolen it, there is no excuse for them.Another 1post GSC defender btw.

Iam defending it because i love the game! You probably would do the same for your favourite game.

So, "reasonable" to you is to allow them to steal whatever content they please without repercussion for doing so? This is fairly unprecedented on this scale, I'd say. They stole from some major studios and brands that actually took their time to make a triple A game legitly. Being a "good game" has absolutely nothing to do with this, at all. That's an absolutely wreckless opinion and if nothing is done to combat it, then any company can just steal whatever they want to make their products... code, art, levels, whatever.

If I were the companies that were stolen from, I'd file suit on each piece of content that was stolen-- with a logical fee to offset the theft, but make sure its enough to ensure they don't do it again. Somewhere in the ballpark of $5,000 - $10,000 per piece of content. Not terrible on it's own, but adds up quick if you steal your entire product.

Yes,but how can you prove that they actually did steal,as you can see that the textures are modified.Secondly, how do you know this textures are actually used in the game,i mean in the beta versions of STALKER the weapons sounded so much like counter-strike weapons but they are not used in the final version, are they?I wouldnt be surprised to find those sounds in the final version of STALKER but just not being actually used(After all people do sometimes forget to delete the old files).Anyway my guess is that GSC used this textures in the beta versions(alpha versions )(Again they might of forgot to cut out)as at the time(2002)when GSC had alpha version on their hands it looked like a different thing from the final version, and you never know what they could have done to the engine and the textures in those 5 years. The best thing to do now is to get that early 2002 alpha versions of STALKER and compare the textures between the alpha and the full version.

ps:GSC is not in Russia its in Ukraine.
