david and goliath come to mind
yeah me too. i have come across many icelandic people in my travels, and there are some girls up there i actually promised to visit. so, uhm, i need to get busy.
the exploding water looks awesome btw
man i thought i was the only one thinking of the grid as holy. that is also one of the things i think is blasphemic about maya... it doesn't snap to grid on auto! D:
oooh nice, ill be getting it as soon as i have the monae
i've seen much worse first tries as well... i remember someone posting a pic of a house with a door and no windows right besides a building that had no doors only windows. other than that, try googling some photos of simple scenes (a road, a t junction, a house) and try modelling after that. given that you're new dont focus alot on detail, and rather just build the whole geometric thing up first. if you feel like it's coming along, start adding details and before you know it, you'll actually have a decent looking map.
kfs: good thinking framing posters. looks much better with the framing than with curly corners and ripped edges. why havent i thought about this before... damn
Quote from Metal-la-la-laHonestly if i was a recruiter, i woulmdn't really mind about clothes. In fact, i prefer to see someone with his real everyday clothe -even if it is gothic, gangsta or raggae style- than someone coming with a blazer or soWe're working in video game industry, not in a bank
yeah that's probably why you aren't a recruiter... ![]()
haha i saw that pic and instantly thought, "INTERNET TOUGHGUY". awesome though, i wish i lived in california.. give it 8 years and i probably will be living there ;D
probably because our language doesnt support the symbols you requested

i dont think he was referring to you ![]()
last pic:
the first building (from the left) really catches the eastern european style, and so does second - however putting a factory right next to a farm is not a way to go.
poor sony slave worker ![]()
i would say 360 is the best choice available atm - you have a huge game selection. it might get better when they release more games for the wii, but right now mine is "collecting dust"...
geeks are the new black
very nice... the first and last one really remind me of my last visit in poland. the tree one with the sunlight in it is quite awesome.
Quote from Quakisi think it'd look pretty good with a normal and spec map tbh
Like this?

given, the bumpmapping makes a difference. but even in this shot, i think it looks cartoony. it has that unrealistical realistic feeling to it
you forgot games at inspiration ![]()
a thing i would want to add would be sketching in pseudo 3d.. seen from a static camera angle you see the whole level, and try to map it out (just like in a 3d viewport/hammer/maya/3dsm). of course there'll be point where you have to compensate some places, but even at that, it adds wholeness and of course a perspective overview.
other than that, the whole tut is a bit short, i guess you could elaborate a bit more on the sections.
definitely. i'd also like to help you out with the inspiration part if you need. but yeah i'd read em.
