newsflash:There are gamers/consumers out there who do not use Steam.

i agree. just because one company sets one standard doesnt mean the whole industry should follow. besides, if you're an avid gamer, you'd best upgrade your machine either how as i really cant see how requirements are going to get lower. source is an exception but it's also a three year old engine, and a low requirement one at that.

yeah there's even an achievement if you can smuggle the gnome into the rocket.

i thought ep 2 as a whole very entertaining, more so than portal (though i really liked the last parts of portal). took me about 6 hours to complete aswell, but that's what you can expect from episodic content. the story is really well told, more so than ep1 anyhow. i really loved the scenery and especially *spoiler?* the mountain houses down the snake path */spoiler*.

without going int more detail, i am very satisfied with this purchase, and really looking forward to ep3 (which will probably take another year and a half). also, with some of the references to aperture science, i could see ep3 converging with a sequel for portal.

wait, are you people serious? given, the requirement for the game is quite high, but as the guy in the interview said, there've been 256 mb cards since 2004. i myself dont know anyone that is a gamer that has less than a 256 mb gfx

  • TFT vs CRT

    • Sentura

yeah, zacker, but for what reasons?

if you're a huge fps gamer that plays competetively (i have a half brother doing this), a huge hertz boost is neccesary to be on the edge; every frame counts. LCDs have a problem with the latency, usually around 8 ms these days, which apparently is far too long if you need your actions to be instant.

this is the only reason to keep a CRT though, and while I run a dual screen with a CRT and LCD monitor, i can't wait to replace my CRT with a LCD. i've had to turn down brightness numerous times on the CRT because it was hurting my eyes.

both have their advantages, depends on the reason.

funnily enough I am contemplating a 360 at this point (the wii doesnt really have any games worthwhile (except zelda)), and skate has definitely upped my interest; me being an oldtime skater myself. still, it'll be a while before I get it - 360 elite prices are XBOX HUEG at the moment (and I don't really want to settle for a premium, since i've heard the problems you guys have with them).

mwah i hope that it's really this good

  • Hardware experts - what do you think of this system?

i agree with cj that q6600 is a much better trade off than a c2x. i went with the e6750 myself, but i regret not having purchased the q6600 while i had the chance. also i would recommend 4gb ram for whatever purpose it might have (i suspect no less than a full gaming rig). i would even consider going as high as 8gb, even though that might be a bit overkill and would be much more considerable in a year's time when ddr2 prices are perhaps half of what they are now.

also if you want a pretty good board that allows for some novice overclocking, i would recommend the ASUS striker extreme.

i saw that "logo" when i was in japan, there's apparently a playstation franchise where you can get everything from dining sets to apparel with the 4 symbols (though that doesnt look as "extreme" as the new logo does).
