then why is it overrated? i wouldnt say that crysis tops half life 2 either honestly, because half life 2 is made by arguably the best designers in the industry; without going into details, it is pretty much awesome in its immersion. put it differently, there's a reason why half life 2 got 96 metascore whereas crysis only got 93.

still, i'd go so far as to say that crysis is the second best choice after half life 2

alright, it seems like everyone involved has voted so far, and that the event will be held in the start of february. if there are objections against this please state them in the thread.

as for localization, anyone having any suggestions on where to meet up at a specific place, feel free to comment. my personal suggestion is the ITU bar (located at ITU/islands brygge), with close connections to centrum by metro. as said before, i can arrange for cheap alcohol and perhaps bartenders, which would give us a good start on the evening.

again, any suggestions/objections state them in the thread. starting time could be suggested as well, though i doubt the event should start before at least 6 pm (unless we want dinner as well)

i would also like to promote an exchange of phone numbers/contact information incase of a communication breach of sorts or people being lost, etc.

camden town is excellent, you should definitely go (huge punk/goth scene). you can also pack a lunch and go up primrose hill; the view is much better than london eye as well as cheaper... it might be a bit cold there now though.

covent gardens has this cheap restaurant called bistro 1 or bistro 2 (i cant remember) behind the arcade shops (from the station); this is easily one of the best restaurants in london and the food is cheap.

i just recieved the game, and i have to say from about 20 minutes of play, that this game is absolutely stunning - the graphics, the gameplay, the atmosphere. not having played the demo i didn't know what i was going into, but this game truly exceeded whatever expectations i had.

    huge grats to frie ;D

well you can say that if the 360 had hddvd support built in i would have gone for one of those, but seeing as you have to buy an addon for that, and a huge bulky one at that, it's no thanks from me.

while i dont support blu ray really (i have this weird feeling saying it wont be the next big thing), i do want the ps3 because of a few games out already, and some coming. i dont doubt now that at some point the ps3 will be this generations ps2.

i spend too much time playing megaman x series on snes emulators, but what's to expect from a series of games that are beyond awesome.

also i used to play through fallout/2/tactics every now and again. can't remember whether rune was made in 2000, but i used to play that through every time winter (and snow) came around, and dune 2 too.

god of thunder pt 1-3 and duke nukem 2

all these kids that go shooting always kill themselves at the end of it - if they have a real message, then stay alive, go through the court case and tell your side: you have a lot of publicity to wield after something like a school shooting so use it to further your cause. killing yourself amounts to saying "i was just angry, so i killed some people then killed myself because i'm a fucking pussy and my glorious message didn't mean fuck all"

i have to agree to this one, if you're about to go berserk on everyone then at least survive until after the trial so you can tell your story. holding out a week more wouldnt be that hard, and this would definitely shed some light on why it happens and give new ways of preventing the problem. i sort of wish this advice would lie somewhere openly on the internet so that if you're about to go berserk anyway, there'd be some guidelines.

and yes, what i just said was very fucking morbid, but honestly this would be the better for all. there's no way of culling this problem which will probably persist for many years (see: "trend"), and getting to know what the incentive behind to "act with such willful disregard against humanity" would help removing the causes and therefore the problem. 10 points if you guess where that last quote is from.

I hope after EP3 they will write a new engine a with a new editor built from scratch. As long as the editor works similar to hammer (I think Hammer is one of the easiest and yet powerfulest editors about) it would be good.

that's quite a far fetched hope you've got there, sonny  i agree on hammer being one of the easiest to learn editors ever made. for all it's errors, it is still a quality piece of work.

I'd almost be inclined to say the world is more civil and less hateful than ever. We've done nothing but progress from stuff like revolutions, genocides, nuclear attacks, and cold wars.

of course we have! i dont think you can picture amount of wanton destruction world wide we would have if a nuclear war escalated. some political overlords, it seems, haven't seen the big picture though (see: iran, pakistan, n. korea etc.), and do not understand that throwing one bomb would ultimately lead to a rocket exchange that would ruin not alone the planet, but also extinguish life as we know it.

the fact that we merely distance ourselves from things does not prevent them from happening; and while you think that the world was bad some 1000 years ago, remember that there were no global wars 1000 years ago, no drugs, and so forth. society has changed us from being busy 100% of the time to a time with too much time on our hands and too much luxury and i honestly think it has gotten out of hand. the way people behave, the bizarre things people do in their spare time... i guess you can imagine what i mean without me having to name some examples here.

the world is a hateful place today, there are so many new inventive ways of being malevolent and only so much fewer to being benevolent. the way the world has been going for the past 2000 years does not give me good incentive to think that anything will change for the better; but then again what could i have expected? we're only humans and humans make mistakes; though it's about time we start to tread lightly if we don't want to make our next mistake a final.

as much as everyone likes to blame everyone else, my personal opinion is that the world today is a very hateful place, what with the different governments acting hostile towards people and are for the creation of wars (see: right wing parties). without going too much into politics ill suffice to say that reign of these things (whom nobody suspects) pushes people to the edge even more. seeing that there's nothing to live for only presses on urges to die.

i dont know how it is in finland, but i know denmark has an extreme right wing party in charge, and although the riches, taxes and everything are fine and dandy, almost no one from the outside is let in. it's a case of pure antisemitism.

having said that, i of course do not believe this is the main issue, but i would still say it ranks up there along with victimization, bullying and society. i agree it's a sad thing; but i was expecting we'd see more of these things, as morbid as that may sound.

i don't hear any objections from anyone; so i guess people either don't care or agree in silence. personally i'd settle for later that year seeing as the weather will still be cold, but that is trivial i suppose. i also suppose late march is when we want to do this, and of course, do it over a weekend.
