i was happy to see SMG come out for the wii as it is probably the best game for it out there. but that's it; there's not really anything else you can play on a wii (other than the mario/zelda reruns), and i feel kinda bad about buying it. i was thinking that nintendo back with the announcement of manhunt 2 would feature a different demographic but i was sadly wrong.

i still use my wii alot, especially when i have friends over; but it just doesnt cut it as a console. i am actually considering selling at this point -- there's not really anything else looking up over the horizon and i'd be damned if something awesome like mass effect or drake's fortune -ESQUE came out for the wii. i guess my fellow wii owners on this board agree :\

one thing that really nagged me is how powerful melee weapons are when thrown. once you have alot of notoriety you can just keep buying into axes and knives and insta-kill almost everyone who comes close. i'd put a limit on the amount of melee weapon one can carry (no cowboy would be able to carry 10+ axes).

i also partly agree one the reload time with hessi, rifles need less reload time as do single six shooters, but double sixguns seems like a good reload pace. keep in mind that the rifles they used in the wild west actually had semi automatic fire already, since that was a leftover from the civil war.

I think this one lacks a lot of depth, unlike your usual sketches kokos

it looks like it's part of the style. like a mosaic or something similar. i could see this on a wall inside a temple along with the duck monster, turkey monster and cookie monster.

[...}I don't care about innovation, I care about entertainment. The feedback I was getting is that this game isn't innovative. I was like so what? I wasn't a jerk about it, but wouldn't you rather have a game that entertains the crap out of people rather than one that checks off the tick box saying it's innovative?"

    best quote ever.

awesome article btw, i'd pay for a compendium of articles like this one in book form.

in the light of your earlier releases this one seems a bit uninspired, sorry to say.

what does this even mean? is it just me or does it sound completely wrong to have inspired or uninspired lighting?

  • Aquaria: best indie game ever????evr.

you guys have hugely expensive lunches! i pay, what, around $5 for mine every day and it's a feast. regardless, no matter how inexpensive or expensive one's lunch actually is, comparing game prices with lunches is bad.

there are lots of bargain bins where you can pick up games for $10 that are good, full size games. now, as i said, i dont require games like aquaria to be this cheap, but definitely 15 or 20 bucks and not 30. games like peggle, bejeweled or whatever casuality they make up should not go over $10, because it's not worth more. enough said.

i'm not really excited for the title other than seeing the duke in action once again; i am more interested in the actual effect (if any) on games by companies that said that dnf would come out before a came out. it's more the fact that you cannot use the term anymore than anything else. like if hell froze over... which actually happened:

i think those games overpriced, zaphod. either of them should not cost more than 10 bucks on the steam platform, where little money goes into publishing; it's a ripoff. 15-20 bucks is alright for a game like aquaria even though it might offer less actual content than free indie games like cavestory. they are shooting themselves in the foot though - i reckon they could have gotten a larger clientele by lowering their price 10 or 15 bucks, so their loss.

also to answer your question more properly, i value a game in "value", a mix of gameplay/fun and features/content; features/content actually linking back to fun as well. i reckon alot of people have the same thing - whenever they buy something, they want to feel that they got some value for their money.

It doesn't really make a difference what platform it was on Steppenwolf... sales are sales. Whether it's on the 360 or the PC, the money put into development needs to be made back and profit. It doesn't matter if most PC games also sell relatively badly.

what he means is you cant compare a platform with another. i can see where he is heading, and honestly, i cant see any reason to compare 360 sales to pc. a platform is a platform, judging a multiplatform game versus a pc game, you'll have to subtract the additional platform. it's logic.
