you can also see that shanties are good in places where the foundation is less than ideal here:

4-6 inches? Isn't that around 10-15 centimeters? If so, that's one big ass skirting board. I just measured mine and it's about 4 centimeters, and i am still talking about the skirting board.

yeah mine's no taller than an inch either. weird english people

yeah it's definitely the style. you would never see houses like that on sandy ground. partly because there isn't foundation enough to support those sorts of buildings, and partly because they would take too long to make. if they were really pirates i reckon they'd at most use pure wooden houses because of the much less foundation they require, or, and this is more probable, simple bungalows.

    POST WRITTEN BY SKJALG

So far ive had a blast.

Last night I arrived at the airport around 6pm and went straight to meet Sentura by traveling with the metro for 3 minutes. Once we, we beeing me and my brother, got back to senturas place we had a drink and played some games then went to the next door pizzeria to get some food before joining up with the IO guys at the IO offices.

We weren't really sure where the IO offices were located, all I knew was that it was closed to a bridge over some water, but appareantly Sentura had a feeling for where it was. And ofcourse he called zacker like 9 times to ask for directions.

Once we get to the IO offices I am introduced to Mazzle and Warby, and ofcourse Zacker. Everyone of them beeing a lot more awesome than I had previously thought they were or would be. We had a small tour around the IO offices, lingered a little at the corner Mazy and the other two usually were working. (I also saw an image plastered on the wall with the picture of Steve Jobs, signed "To Mazy, thanks for a wonderful night -Steve" or something along those lines. I asked Mazy about it but he avoided my question most brilliantly. I shall ask him another time:P

Anyways, they showed us some old concept art from Kane and Lynch, from back when it was still called something else, I cant remember the actual name right now but it was a little lame so it was good they changed it. After the the tour we joined the other IO employees in their recreational areas for some free beer and board games. Of course; we were sitting in a corner discussing maps, mapcore and mapcore members for a couple of hours before going out to the students bar Sentura usually gets drunk in.

Once we got to the bar, we went to ITU's Game Labs instead after aquiring a bottle coca cola for a game of TF2. We had a blast on some Swedish server getting our asses raped on these custom TF2 maps.

The plans for today is to get something to eat, then meet up with Warby later on. On sunday we'll all go to the movies together to maybe check out Rambo, atleast thats the only free time Mazy had this weekend while setting up his new appartment.

Right now its closing in on 10am and I have no idea why im awake. Sentura just woke up and complained at me for getting up to early but I'm kind of retarded and I have no idea why I'm awake, but i'll try to get some more sleep. I'll make an additional post later tonight i think

meeting skjalg at the airport could be an idea if you guys want to take the time to do that. otherwise i can probably arrange so that you guys can at least get there and get a drink in the bar.

i would say a piston. like some alien machinery. it's far too weird in structure to be a support column i believe, but a piston could actually have use of the spaces when placed inside a cylinder.

i'm not talking about pride in trying a new mmo, i'm talking about staying in the old. you saying you having spent so much time on one mmo excludes you from trying any new ones is pride.

Actually, I found Hammer viewport camera pretty annoying! Although It's not nearly annoying as Radiant!

It's very hard when you're modeling your assets on your favorite 3rd party geometry modeling, then you come back to the editor and the camera controlers are completely different, you found you'r self using hotkeys from the wrong program, etc! [Blocked Image: https://migrationtest.mapcore.org/public/style_emoticons/default/mapcore_smilies/emot_shakehead.gif]

Curiously, almost none of the programs out there, both game editors and modeling apps, don't let you customize the way you control the camera! In fact, the only one I know of, is XSI (The one I'm using right now), it even let you choose a 3DsMax like controls, Maya or the old softimage program default keys, pretty amazing!

I really like the SandBox2 viewport navigation controls, because It's pretty much like a game, you use the WASD or the arrows to move the camera, UnrealEd controls are not bad either, but they'r far from being perfect.

Oh well, I guess it all comes down to getting used to, and once you get used to a specific control set, It's always hard to migrate!

    Display More

you must be talking about mouse controls. i always used the keyboard in hammer and it's basically the same as the freelook mode in game.

i think it's the inability to jump and not having any platform movement whatsoever. obviously they tried to mimic god of war but it seems they forgot everything but the combat.
