Below degree education definatly isnt that important, but its always good to have it there. Having a degree shows you have many abilities and qualities from day 1 that you don't need to be taught or can be proven in an interview such as the ability to work with others. The vast majority of degree's here require a few modules of work where you work in groups on projects or with other courses. Its not required for some areas of the games industry but it certainly helps your application go to the top of the pile before the interview. Some areas such as programmers definately require a relevant degree more often than not and if you're planning to work abroad it can also be key to getting visas and what not.
yeah programming was what i was thinking too -- if you learn coding yourself, chances are you wont have expertise on algorithms and optimization that you will need in many positions.

i would love to get one of those myself. awesome car right there.

damn paul, i was thinking that was unreal... top notch right there.

props to you for figuring this out, someone sticky this thread.

i dunno it doesnt really shock me, i prefer the mindfucking of the unknown (i.e. someone banging on doors and when you open said door, there's no one
). i'd even say that the shot with the robot thing looks like it has way more potential for being scary than that zombie...whatever thingy. -

I don't really agree, Thrik. Unless you're a serious peacenik who actively ignores / rails against all training offered to you, you will be trained to do your job -- the job being killing other people. Once you drill something enough times while aiming at human-shaped targets using real weapons in a stimulus-reaction scenario, the action (shooting at the target) becomes automatic. There is no "oh the humanity" moment prior to a well-trained soldier pulling the trigger.
Modern day soldiers are basically trained to run on autopilot as if everything is just one big target range -- you can't be a good soldier without it. If you read some accounts of WW2, you'll see why this is. Back then, it is estimated that only a fraction of soldiers actually tried to shoot at the enemy. Imagine how quickly you'd lose a modern war if most of your soldiers did that and the enemies are going all out to kill you...
Most armies have learned from the 'problems' of outdated/ineffective training methods and now have solved the 'problem'. Knowing that your enemy isn't a faceless machine doesn't come into it. You won't be thinking when you're pulling the trigger, you'll just be pulling the trigger and moving on to the next target. Kinda scary, but that's the reality of it.

i actually think thrik is right here. what you're saying is if you're weak and succumb to the propaganda (i'm sorry but it is), then yes, you will be able to shoot people without any moral obligations. if you have absolutely no inclination whatsoever, you will be smart enough not to be put into battle in the first place. the ones that do get into battle and kill without mercy will later have a heightened chance of being shellshocked (post traumatic stress disorder), leaving them at a lower mental health level for a long time if not until death. suppressing emotions comes at a price.

something i drew just to accustom myself to my wacom properly. nothing special. i tried putting more focus on the colors rather than on the motif itself. we've seen enough orange/blue contrast, so why not skew it to purple/gold?

man some mario kart hate on this forum
I think it looks like a decent sequel.. though after this I can't really see them doing anymore with this franchise... mario kart galaxies? racing spaceships or something? What i see different is:
-new items
-new tracks
-new vehicles
-online play (this one being the reason to buy I would think)
yeah DS mario kart has online play but I dont really like the interface of that online playing.
i dont think there's any more hate here than there is over any other gimmick game for any other console.
-
yeah i am not getting this. i'd rather get a real racing game than play any more mario kart on a stationary console. mariokart is fun on ds though.

hey at least guild wars has the premise of skill built in (pvp wise, cant speak for the pve).
you can add me ingame if you still play:
latent talent

arguing over whether god exist or not is probably the worst discussion one can take up. i say let people have their beliefs as long as they do not judge others because they have a different faith. the bible, bullshit or not, still has some good points about how to live life in peace, and i know many atheists that live by those advices.
