so yeah, i've been working on this thing for the past 10 days or so. for lack of inspiration in names, i just called it "a simple portal map". this is still a beta in the sense that you can probably get stuck, but i am working on ironing all the issues out. it would be awesome if a few people would want to test it and report whatever type bugs they may find (visual, or progress blocks, etc.).
screens:

please note that the shots are a bit dated, ingame architecture may vary.
download:
http://files.sentura.net/maps/simpleportal.bmz (17 mb)
updated the map:
- it should no longer be possible to get stuck on the very last puzzle.
- the radio will now dissolve properly.
- challenges have been added.
simply remove your old folder from the /portal/maps/ directory, then enter the game and import the .bmz file as a bonus map, and you should be able to play it.
enjoy etc.

i considered that, but i wanted to incapsulate it better so that the trigger didnt know what the actual objects did, other than killing them. i worked around it, sending an OnFireUser output instead, and appropriately triggering the desired effect before using a Kill on !self.
this still fulfills the notion that the trigger does not know what each object does. this way, each object could easily be copy/pasted and retain same properties, only changing the name. i am just saying this for reference if anyone else would ever come in this situation.

the outdoor looks nice, however im not convinced by the indoor displacements..

you're jumping the gun here, nobody outside bethesda has played the game so far. you could at least stop crying until you know what you're crying about. and again, no matter what you say, bethesda won't change the game to fit your taste.

ahahaha. damn, i was reading through the comments on the article for laughs; and jesus, did i find them:
QuoteDisplay MoreJesus Christ what a sickening amount of paid-off Bethsoft fanboys! What, you all have Peter Hine's limp dick in your mouth while commenting here?Puff made just one mistake in his text and that was about Black Isle bankcruptcy.
All the other points are valid and truthful. Reading most of the comments made me sick.
We have a big gaming company here, willing to make a proper RPG-sequel to a decade-old franchise which has a legendary status and fanatical following.
Did they hear out old Black Isle guys? -No.
Did they hear out NMA's F3 wishlist? -No.
Did they just copy and "improve" their old engine? -Yes.
Did they just pull a bunch of excuses from their ass for justifying their using Oblivion engine in a totally different game? -YES BABY YES!
It's gonna be a crappy Bioshock-ripoff with shiny gfx. And metacritic will give it 99% or so. And two years from release, fans have released gazillion mods "fixing" the game since Bethsoft is incapable of doing that. Happened with Oblivion and F3 should really have been named Oblivion with Guns, as that's what it is.
man i'd love to smack these fanboys around a bit verbally. they're so upset about the game because bethesda didnt listen to their wish list. how can you not understand that bethesda will make the game how they see fit, and not take pointers from amateur writers or other fanatical suggestions about isometric gameplay for a rpg in our day and age?

so i am working on a portal level that is practically finished, but i am missing this one last thing. is it possible to have a visible brush entity with a "OnKilled" output? killed as in, removed from the game.

i cheer for poland even though they wont win. oh well.

wow yeah. collectors edition's these days are becoming quite awesome. gta IV and warhammer online ones are pretty sweet too.

unlucky man :\

gotta say, it looked awesome enough to get me hyped, but i guess this is just one of those relationships that will never work. sorry duke, it was over before it began.

the only thing i really liked were those elven ruins. also those scared the living shit out of me, though they didnt bereave me of my soul... unlike stalker, which also took my money, my wife and kids away

aye grats. i heard you're in the ranks of 20s now, so welcome

":1lx0e8z0]Psyshokiller, nope, zero custom content on this map. But don't worry about it, this project is almost finished, and I got a good idea for a new one, with 100% custom content.

jesus christ, you're a machine!
when you first began i wasn't really impressed; however, these last shots have made me confident that you don't need luck to win this contest. still, you might be better off with it, so good luck

those screens are most excellent!

the first two shots look fine, but the last one looks really bad. i agree on what peris said about the contrast and colors, it looks way too green as it is. i still use the fallout 3 wallpaper on my desktop atm, and the concept art from there is more or less perfect... why'd they move away from that?

it's easy to level up, but boring as hell

50 assassin by now :\

dux you look like a fucking mime

i gotta admit, i didnt play it till the end. the parts where you had them things chasing you got my heart stuck in my throat. so i just ended up watching the whole walkthrough on youtube.
