    What about prize money?

I know they had prizes in the beta tournaments, but it wasn't money. I imagine there will be monetary prizes in the tournaments after release though!

    14.5 hours til release guys!

Ohhh sorry hahaha. Well they really want to push the competitive side and they've had some big tournaments in the beta. Apparently in the next tournament, the final is going to be played in a studio in Koln, Germany! Livestreamed to the world

So no guarantees it gets huge, but every game has to start somewhere, right? I mean, LoL was small when it first started!

There is a LOT of fortune in modding for NS2 Skjalg! UWE have hired like, 2 of the modders (coders) from the community, so if you make something cool and mindblowing, then there's a chance they will bring you on! Plus you'd be helping out the community

PS - The game is coming out tomorrow at midnight (GMT)! Hope to see some of you guys on the servers

Here are a few tracks that I really like, in no particular order.

<-- This is probably my favourite soundtrack of all time. That's right, out of all of the time, THIS IS THE ONE.

<-- Evokes some weeeeird nostalgic feelings for me. Played WoW when I was in my early teens and I can remember playing through Ashenvale with my cousin and my brother. Good times.

<-- Again, weird nostalgic memories. This is the game I played the most when I was growing up, and I didn't find out until much later that this was composed by Jeremy Soule (composer of the Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim soundtracks).

  • What have you watched recently?

Yeah it was good, but just pales in comparison to this series. There's something very mysterious about the prison, and it just gives a real fresh feel to the series.

    I wonder who

that voodoo, ninja, samurai sword-wielding black girl is? And I wanna know how her and Andrea became so close. I imagine they'll do flashbacks to their time together before she got ill.

Yeah the new series of Walking Dead is amazing, really enjoying it. Last season may have well just been renamed to 'WHATS GOING ON AT THE FARM'.

One thing that annoys me about this show is when Rick is shooting stuff. He does this ridiculous arm flail when he fires his pistol to give a sense of recoil. Just looks weird

I miss these competitions. When they used to run, I was just getting into environment art, so I'd love to be able to participate in one now!

I was following the Tournaments, although watching them live forces me to wake up at 3:00 AM.

The game is just so entertaining to watch,

i love the simultanious show-off of great player skill and commander tactics.

Man, I have never been a big fan of watching tournaments/live streams of games but I can't believe how entertaining ns2 is to watch. I'm not just blowing UWE's trumpet here, I was genuinely hooked when I was watching some of the streams.

You hit the nail on the head, it's nice to see the tactical element mixed with the skill of each player down on the floor.

Thanks for watching Tschoppo, there are plenty more tournaments planned!

If anybody's interested, there are quite a lot of NS2 tournaments going on recently. You can check out the Twitch stream to see old ones, and also there are loads of Q&As with the developers. The most recent one is a great watch!

Also, we released a huuuuuuuge patch today that has increased performance by 30-50%. You should checkout NS2 again now if you haven't played in a while, you'll be impressed by the fps increase.

I love the soundtrack too, though it has that Inception Horn/Trumpet thing that everyone always hates! I love a few of the more atmospheric tracks, specifically some of the UFO landing ones. They have a very Xcom (the original) feel to them.

Listen to this, you'll know what I mean:

    Just finished the game.

Aweeeesome stuff, though I was very disappointed by the ending. I didn't like fighting on the Alien ships as much as on Earth, and thought it was a bit boring. Part of the fun of Xcom is not knowing where the enemy are, but in the last mission you know that each room is going to have a set amount of enemies in it and that takes the fun out of it, in my opinion.

I've played on Normal Ironman from the start. I really think loading saved games completely ruins the fun of Xcom. I think I'm nearing the end now.

    Quote

I'm fighting loads of difficult enemies in every mission now. Those big mechs are so hard to beat... I have given everyone Titan Armour, though I'm thinking of getting the Ghost Armour as soon as I get my next council report (1000 credits every month!)

    Next stop, CLASSIC Ironman. Fuck!
