I would crank up the ambient light a bit, make it a darkish blue colour. At the moment it's too dark.
Hmmm I personally haven't enjoyed it so far. And the general feeling on the forums is that it's not as good as CoH 1.
I absolutely loved CoH, but this feels weird. They've completely shortened the early game period, making infantry absolutely useless. There are no proper anti-tank infantry, so they become useless really early on. Everybody just has to rush for tanks. Also, the resource generation is ridiculous, you will never struggle for resources.
Also, there is less focus on building. You pretty much just build 1/2 main buildings and use those to pump out more tanks, but the infantry don't have many options for building. You can place sandbags but they're pretty useless because tanks come into the game so quickly. The same applies to barbed wire too.
Disappointed so far... Hopefully they change the resource generation so the early game lasts a lot longer.
However, blizzards are awesome. On the snowy maps, blizzards periodically occur, which brings in the fog of war and reduces your units' line of sight. You have to stay near fires and warmer areas and if you're caught out in the cold, your troops rapidly lose health. This is really great because it forces you to change the way you play, and you have to fall back slightly and stay warm. That's a great addition to the game!
My favourites are Microsoft Word and Calculator, but I've started using Windows Sound Recorder for more complex stuff recently.
This is Mapcore, we all love each other here! ![]()
Quote from FMPONEAre you serious dude? xD
lol
edit: does he smell good
Man you two can be real dicks sometimes. What's wrong with him asking that as a question?
hahahha oh come on dude...
we love liam. just teasing him a bit, lighten up geez
fwiw i actually expected somebody to answer it, but at the same time if people were talking about my presence in the office or whatever on a forum behind my back, it might not be fair to that person. anyways back to the thread...
i think the very initial part of the game where you're ogign to the lighthouse was pretty, but was anybody else completely stunned by how gorgeous the section where you descend into the city was? With the light streaming through the letters, and the watery church area? I think Irrational took the approach of making light as central to this game as they made water as central to bioshock 1, because by far the most exceptional part of this game for me was the god beams. Visually they are just above and beyond everything i've seen in a game
Haha! I wasn't asking if he was actually a complete dick, I was just wondering if Vivi had met the man! Anyway, forget I ever asked ![]()
Dude that bit at the beginning was fantastic. The music was perfect.
Haha thanks Puddy. I doubt that though!
I think I still need more on my portfolio. Most of it is NS2 stuff really, which is mainly just hard surface. I need to show a bit more Zbrush-y sorta stuff, and different types of models, like some sort of building. I have a lot of experience doing that sorta stuff, but I have no finished scenes to show. That's what I need to work on asap!
Heh, thanks Neil.. I think!
Does anybody know of any London based studios that are hiring at the moment? Just curious to see what sort of work is available. I'm pretty sure Splash Damage and Rocksteady aren't hiring at the moment.
Awesome Csyver, thanks!
Yeah. There is an XP system, and when you level up, you get perks for specific units and broader perks for each side. They are very subtle, for example, early on you get a 2% increase to accuracy of your basic units.
I'll have to play it a bit more to see if it actually makes any difference though.
Hello chaps.
Have any of you got into the CoH 2 beta? I got a key code from Eurogamer this year and I've been playing..
It's pretty good so far. Taking me a while to get back into it, but I'm enjoying it so far. It feels more like an expansion to Company of Heroes, rather than a sequel, in terms of gameplay.. Seems to play pretty much the same. I need to give it a bit more time though!
I like the new unlock system, I think it will add a bit more to the long-term scale of the game, but I imagine it will make the divide between good/bad players much wider.
So far I've only played as Soviets, and they seem pretty good. I like the idea that you shouldn't really retreat, especially with the penal squadrons.
Mapcore - The only place that can turn a simple genuine question into a series of complex riddles.
I rescind my question and you can all go about your day as normal! As you were!
Edit - Just saw HP's post. I played on hard and found it fairly difficult in parts, and definitely did not have enough money to afford every upgrade, and I spammed Use all the time! What is the main difference between hard mode and 1999 mode? (How's that question guys? Do you understand it?)
Edit 2.0 - I agree with your points about Columbia being really believable. I loved the fact that you saw Columbia before it's fall, what a great idea! That's one thing I'd have liked to have seen in Rapture.
One thing I thought was incredible, was when you see the Barbershop Quartet singing a Beach Boy's song. That's such an awesome nod to the idea of tears; it left me wondering why the hell they were singing a 60s hit in the 1910s... But of course, it all makes sense. Comstock obviously found a tear into the modern day, heard the song, and took it back with him. Really clever! ![]()
Nice! Are those Natural Selection 1 textures? Or are they from HL?
Haha!
I always thought it would make more sense if she threw you a little sack full of coins or something, rather than one coin. Took me a while to realise she was handing me more than 1 dollar!
Errr, yeah? I was just wondering if he's the kinda guy that walks around and has a hand in everything. Was wondering if Vivi has chatted to him much!
What's wrong with asking that? ![]()
Who is Teddy? ![]()
Is he the guy who made dDo, nDo etc? I think Pontus lived with him for a while.
Cool, looks like it's off to a good start! Keep us posted ![]()
What's the idea behind the scene?
Jäger is awesome, you damn pussies!!!
Thanks Kikette, that means a lot coming from you! Your stuff is really inspirational man, I wish I could get to your level of texturing!
