Jesus, spending this much money on developing and promoting games is going to be unsustainable in the long run.

Awesome man, I love little atmospheric environments like that! Keep it up

Yeah I don't mean to come across as completely anti-drugs, if you have tried other ways and they haven't worked, then yes, maybe drugs are a good thing to try and help with it. But again, I don't have any experience with it, and Thrik put it very eloquently!

I really disagree with taking medication for anxiety, especially if you haven't even bothered trying to make a meaningful change in your life to get over it. I dunno, I've never taken it so I can't really sit here and judge.

Well this thread took a turn for the worse!
Sorry to hear that some of you guys are unhappy. You really need to start making changes in your lives and making things better! Dux, I've said it before man, you need to get out of Wales and do something else. Unknown Worlds won't last forever, and you aren't happy how you're currently living, so I think it's a good idea to start looking elsewhere. You don't have to be a good modeller to be a good designer/level artist.
I took nearly an £9,000 pay cut to work at CA, because I was starting to feel depressed working at home by myself. That lifestyle, yes it pays really well, but it's not good unless you have a bit of a social life. You spend half your life working so you need to make sure it's fulfilling you in all areas. I feel like a much happier, more social person since working at CA, it just sucks that I have a lot of issues with the way the project is run, plus the commute is awful. I've made another change and I will be working at Sony soon, so I'm hoping that's gonna give me the best of both worlds.
I am very aware that I have been flitting from project to project since I finished uni, I've had 3 jobs over the past 3 years, but in many ways I feel that is a good thing because I have grown as an artist, and learnt a hell of a lot and met a great deal of people that have really influenced me. I've been very lucky to have met and worked with so many talented people (conversely, it's a shame ive also had to work with some absolute twats!).
So I guess to summarize... Get out there, try different things, live in different places, meet different people, and you'll be a much happier person. I still have my down days but who doesn't?

I'm currently a few eps into re-watching 24 season 3, and after watching that trailer.... DAMN, I've realised that Kiefer is looking old! Wrinkly Jack!

Thanks Fuzy!
The gun is 4,205 tris, the silencer is 698. I should probably smooth out some of the more faceted edges. Here's the wireframe:

Ah I just mean that I've attempted it before, but baked a lot of lighting information into the texture maps such as AO and cavity. With this, I've really tried to strip back the diffuse as much as possible.. Kinda looks weird, but seems to do the job. I've found that the majority of the information comes from the roughness map.
Here's a link to the full res texture.

Nice one guys!
PsychicKitten, I think the scale is a bit off on that lamp. Something about it just looks quite small and that would be hard to see in a game. Maybe try increasing the chunkiness of those support rings.
Been working on this too much, I need a break! It's been good fun learning some proper PBR though. You have to completely change the way you think when texturing, and gets rid of a lot of hacky old techniques. Takes the tediousness out of texturing, but it's much harder to get materials perfect.

breaking up with my 3.5-year girlfriend.
Paedophile alert!
Hope things work out ok man, seems like you're enjoying yourself

I'm currently in my last month at CA, going to work at Sony in London on their new Project Morpheus stuff next month. It's a permanent contract which I'm glad for, I've been on temporary contracts for the past 2 and a half years now, it'll be nice to have something a little more permanent! Also trying to do lots of work in my spare time, as I'm currently feeling left behind in terms of non-hard surface environment art. I've done sci-fi for the past 2 and a half years, and I've let my Zbrush and texturing skills fall behind a bit.
Currently catching up with a bit of PBR fun times, then gonna work on some scene in Unreal 4, maybe something inspired by Dark Souls, not quite sure yet!

Been playing this a fair bit last night/tonight. Gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed in Dark Souls 2 in comparison to the first.
The combat feels.. Weird. There seems to be a lot of stopping and starting with the combat in 2, it just seems like if you get hit you're stunned for ages, whereas it was a bit more forgiving in Dark Souls 1. Also, the graphics and level design are a serious downgrade. I don't know what happened exactly, maybe they took on a few temps or something, but fuckin hell some parts just look terrible.
Overall, disappointed in the sequel. Admittedly I'm not too far through, I just beat the Last Giant, and have fallen off some planks shortly afterwards about 4/5 times now, so I've given up for the night.
Also, why the hell do you have to go back to that bitch in Majualualuala to level up? Why change that from DS1? There is no advantage to going back to Mariujuananauaville, it's not like there's loads of people there that constantly have new things to say. You just go back, that woman moans about souls or some crap, and then you can level up. Why not just let me do that at any bonfire? I lost about 5000 souls right at the beginning of the game because I was waiting for the bonfires to start letting me upgrade, so I was just running on when I could have gone and spoke to that lovely lady in Mawujlwnmauanun.

Looks cool Mino, nice sense of atmosphere. As Blackdog said, the composition seems a bit off, and perspective is a little hard to read. But hey, much better than I could do

How come? I don't think playing a third person whacky hacky is so bad for mouse n keyboard?
Dark souls is all about being in precise control of your character, and being able to deftly move around to avoid being hit (more so if you're an agile character), which makes the use of a thumbstick pretty essential. You have complete 360 degree movement, whereas with WASD or the arrow keys, you're limited to ~8 directions. Also you spend a lot of time moving the camera about wit the other thumbstick, that would be a bit trickier on PC.
Also the way the combat works means that all of your combat controls are on the trigger buttons; left triggers match your left hand (usually) and vice versa. Makes it very easy to visualise what's gonna happen when your character attacks etc. RB is a light attack, RT is a heavier attack.
Saying that, I haven't tried Dark Souls 1 or 2 on a keyboard, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Can I get a Mapcore thong?

You're such a slag!

-
You're better than many other artists already! Very nice work.
-
If you play this with a keyboard and mouse, you're an idiot.
Played this for a couple of hours last night. The first area is pretty boring and ugly, but it looks incredible when you first come out into the town! Those fuckin Hippo-cyclops things are deadly..

Does your prosthetic hand not fit any more koko?
