There's a load of different worlds in the FF universe and most of the time they don't carry over to other games.. There have been a few that are linked such as Vagrant Story, FF Tactics and FF12, which all take place in the same world. So for most people, certain worlds are a lot more gripping than others. Personally, I love Ivalice, the world in the games I just mentioned. FF12 is one of my favourite final fantasy games, the combat system is really cool and was (and still is I guess!) quite innovative in that you can set of 'gambits' which are basically AI commands that can be done in a certain order and based on certain conditions (ie, if health < 50%, use heal on target). I'd recommend that one if you were to try and get into it, but you can't judge the entire series on one game because they're all so different!

Looks really weird and nothing like an FF game, but I'm strangely intrigued by this.
The character dialogue is pretty awful though, and I can't stand those characters! I don't give a shit if you need a bath!

It's like what happened when Moby met Quake.

Oooh interesting choice, Frie! Nice one

Is there any kind of style guide for the new UT? Art direction etc?
-
Cheers guys.
Yeah I definitely want to push the space stuff a little more, outside the window. More rooms/corridors should help give it a sense of location

Cheers Tron. That wasn't my intention when I started out doing this stuff, but it seems to be going more that way so now I'm just embracing it lol.
I want to be a bit more frequent in my updates, so here's a shot of the current stage of the prop dressing. Still got a lot more to do, and then I want to move on to breaking up these tileables with some grunge/grime decals, maybe some puddles etc. I've also been experimenting with a bit of colour grading and adding in a bit more colour to the environment.
There's also a Mapcore rug just below this bed but it's not in this shot!

Awesome Chris, nice work! Love the really clean art style you've got going on, great greyboxing

Interesting that you guys have been crashing a lot, I've been working with Unreal for months now and I've had 1 crash. My guess is it's the BSP stuff that's broken at the moment; I'm not using any BSP, entirely models, and mine is pretty stable.

Knight? Wizard? Seriously? Haha. Imaginative names there, Bungie!

Yeah it's got a bit of a futuristic version of Red Dead Redemption vibe which is cool

Nice, man! Can see a lot of improvement throughout this thread.
Loving the PBR puddles haha!

Quote from dux
I don't get the big hoo hoo ha about this game. It's just Borderlands with less personality and a very bored sounding tyrion lanister?
I feel the same tbh, and loads of guys at work that have played it have been saying the same thing.. Apparently the world just feels really dead and the gameplay really bland.

Looks cool but to me it screams CG. The one of the two purple guys together looks like some kind of CG porn scene!
But he obviously has potential, so I think he should definitely join up!

So is every Unreal map gonna be set floating above planets now? I don't mind that

Looks cool Dux but it's really dark, it'll make players harder to spot I think.

My dad bought this TV the other day, using my Sony discount to get it for half price.... It's absolutely ridiculous. Amazing quality!

So how playable is this UT at the moment? Is it easy to playtest these levels? I don't have a great deal of experience in LD and haven't played Unreal in years (I was more of a Half-life fan!) but it sounds like good fun and something I'd like to get involved in.

Nice one Chris, lookin' good man. I wanna get involved in this but I wanna finish my scene first! Probably gonna be a bit late to the party

-
Yeah they do look pretty mediocre! I think the cutscenes were all outsourced.
