I've heard they're re-making Cod 4 too! And they're apparently re-making Black Ops in Unreal too! I really wish they'd hurry up and re-make Gears of War as well

Seriously though, what's the point in re-making Halo? It was good for its time but it probably won't be as good now.. Even with new graphics.

Ok, me and my housemate sat and played BC2 a lot tonight. We have done it before and had great fun, but tonight was definitely not our night.
It just seemed that no matter what we did, we couldn't do anything to win. We are decent players and I think my KD ratio is around 1.5.. Around 1500 kills to 1000 deaths. But it has just left me in an absolutely terrible mood

We both tried out Vietnam and found it to be absolutely diabolical... There is practically no cover and the levels are so open that the game is completely dominated by snipers. We played as Medic/Recon to try and counter the sniper situation, but still found ourselves losing.
So we switched back to BC2 and the same sorta thing was happening. I got shot from around 30 metres away by a guy with the Spas shotgun. Wtf?
My perspective on BC2 has completely changed tonight...

One thing I find with BC2 is that I always play as Medic... Some maps don't have vehicles so you would never play as Engineer. Assault is pointless when defending.. And Recon is just rubbish.
You can easily rack up points as Medic and Assault, but the other 2 are a lot harder to get high on the scoreboard with.

Why's that guy's left arm smoking?

Oh yeah, TV missile was awesome in BF2. We used to pretend it was an actual TV show and said 'Thanks for watching TV Missile!' every time we fired a missile... Haha.

BC2 is an amazing multiplayer game, when you play it with friends.
I don't use magnum rounds and I am pretty damn kickass!

I know somebody who is working on it! Gonna be AWESOME!

Ah wicked. It is a good course and the lecturers are really nice people. What is FMX?
Not got any plans for the low poly yet... Not really sure how to go about doing the low poly. I've used the Graphite modelling tools before but it is painfully slow.

Thanks Sentura!
I am currently in my final year doing Computer Games Design at Staffordshire University in the UK. I'm focusing on environment art but we have to make a character for one of our modules this semester. It's quite fun and it's nice to learn some technical aspects of character creation.

Thanks guys! Appreciate the kind words.
It's based on an ACES suit that astronauts wear, as seen at the link below:

About the folds: they may not be completely realistic but I was just aiming to give the general impression of clothing folds, as the module isn't really about art, it's more about getting it rigged and in-engine.

Have to make a character for a university assignment, and this is where it is at the moment. I don't normally enjoy making characters but this is quite fun!

Hahaahaha I keep re-winding to 3:15... Comical.

Very good! I love the green/yellow coloured paint; that's a colour you don't often see in games!

Hey, chubby Asian guys had to deal with the combine too you know.
-
Since when did the half-life universe have those weird holographic touch screen things that comes out of the Asian guys arm?

Oh come on chaps, leave it alone. Life's too short!

Don't really have a lot of time to learn a new program, I'll mainly use Zbrush for adding wrinkles and stuff to the clothes.
The issue you touched on, HP, is one I'm currently struggling with. I could add a lot of stuff in Max, but I do really want to experiment with Zbrush and give it a go. It is going to be used so much in the near future, that I think it's a necessity that I learn it. Plus it looks really fun!
So, what I think I'm going to do is what Peri said: Sculpt everything in orange; subd the rest. That should work out nicely. I'll keep you guys posted.
Thanks for the tips everyone!

Sorry to bump this again chaps, just thought it may have been missed last night as I posted it at some ungodly hour.

Hey guys,
Copy+pasting this from my Polycount thread, thought I'd post it here to see if any of you guys have any input you'd like to share!
Got a quick question for you all; how would you go about making the base mesh for an astronaut-type character in this sort of style:
[Blocked Image: http://lh5.ggpht.com/_WDmOOECn9i0/SNlS_shdwPI/AAAAAAAAC4Q/nmCDQDg9Tok/IMG_6433.JPG]
I'm not sure whether to make a very simply base mesh in Max and just sculpt everything, or make the hard edged stuff such as the helmet ring in Max and import them onto a simple base mesh also made in Max.
Main question is - would you sculpt the zip pouches from the flat base mesh, or model the pouches in Max and just sculpt creases and the zip?
Looking forward to hearing the different ways in which people would approach this.
Cheers!
