Very nice vivi! cant wait to see the final thing!

I love my Phongs! Yes just try to avoid them looking too plastic. Take time to make a good exponent map and they will look sexy as hell

Also adding a faint gradient from black to white (black where the texture meets the trunk and white being furthest away) using the 'overlay' blend mode can also add some depth and variation.

Be sure to Fly out of the world/skybox before you go into overview mode. If your have areaportals in your level you will need to compile a version of your map without them in order for it to work.

About me
I have been designing levels, scripting and creating game art for many years, starting way back in (year) with the original Counter Strike.
In 2004 I joined Insurgency, a total conversation mod for Half-Life2, as a level designer, and shortly after in June 2005, I joined Stockholm-based games studio GRIN where I worked for 4 years as a level designer for Ghost Recon:AW 1 and 2, lead level designer for Bionic Commando as well as one other unannounced title.
I have vast experience in BSP based editors (e.g Hammer and Radiant) in addition to object based sandbox editors (i.e. Grin Diesel engine's editor) as well as many other common 3d software such as Photoshop and 3d studio MAX.
Upon Grin's recent closure in 2009 I am now looking for employment in a full time position as (insert job here)

Im sorry, but that GI video was nowhere near what i'd consider GI

-
Im still really shocked by this, although I saw Grin was in hard times I never thought things were gonna get this bad. I know there are positions available over at Funcom. If Anyone is interested just contact me and i'll put you in touch with them directly.
Good luck guys! Wish I was still in the 'holm so I could buy u a beer or two!

Is it me or does the scale look really odd here?

I think the thing that unsettles me the most about this announcement is the fact that it's gonna be a prequel to the original Alien film. Story-wise this is a pretty big challenge considering the storyline of Alien and the following films.
I mean, how are they going to fit humans into the story considering that the crew of the Nostromo were the first to discover the derelict on LV4-26? I've heard some people say that Weyland somehow already knew about the derelict and the aien before Nostromo was sent to investigate, but if so, why did they not send further parties to investigate during the 57 years that Ripley was drifting through space?
So many gaps would have to be filled with humans involved in the prequel, and as a die-hard fan of Alien and Aliens, one thing I wont be able to tolerate is massive gaping plotholes ala Alien3 & Alien Erection.
I would still love to see a sequel set between Alien 3 and Alien Erection (minus Ripley) where a larger team of marines and/or scientists return to LV4-26. One thing that was never addressed was that although the colony was nuked, the derelict was likely to have been nowhere near the Colony (hence why it was never discovered until Burke sent them there) and still in tact. I'd like to see them return to the derelict and take on a storyline that more closely resembles the amazing Dark Horse Comics. I always thought they would make an epic trilogy of Alien movies if directed by the right people.

I also helped them out a bit a long while ago, but i have to say things weren't progressing very fast.
I really hope there is some progress being made on this though, it would be a shame if it never came to fruition -
I agree, tone down the grime a bit, but otherwise very impressive recreation!

I dont want to play l4d levels in l4d2, I want to play l4d2 levels in the barren l4d that I invested $50 expecting to be able to do so at some point.

I recommend http://%7boption%7d, it has a huge community, loads of plugins to make your life easier and a pretty unlimited demo (The pro version is dirt cheap at $25).
There are loads of tutorials and I made this game about 2 years ago with it with no coding at all:
Only thing im not sure of is compatibility with the iPhone but like I said people are always writing compilers and plug-ins for it so it might be worth checking out the forums.
Good luck!

Set for Nov. 17 as an Xbox 360 and PC "exclusive", the game will add melee combat, deeper cooperative gameplay and new weapons, including a chainsaw, frying pan, axe and baseball bat.
I missed Valve's part but WOW a fucking frying pan?!! if they're charging $60 for this then this could be the first ever time Valve let me down

I feel exactly the same, this news is not good and uncharacteristic of Valve and that trailer doesnt sit well for me at all :-|

Thanks! I guess it's early days but something doesnt sit well with that trailer...

this seems so uncharacteristic of valve to churn out a sequel so soon rather than go the TF2 route. Im pretty disapointed tbh, especially since it seems i'll probably be forking out full retail price for what will probably be the equivalent of DLC content!! wtf valve?! Where the fuck was ep3?!
btw hwere can I find this l4d trailer? I missed it unfortunately
