evelopement, personally, I couldn't give a shit about Too Human and I haven't talked to anyone who does. Considering its been in dev all the way back the PS1, I don't think Epic is the one responsible for SK not getting it out the door.

Well, the acusation is that Epic didn't provided the engine code as appointed (according to SK) and eventually the changes SK has made were not helped to convert to the Xbox360 engine code with the reason that these are not engine specific modifications but game specific (if i got that right).

Still, I hope this shit doesn't become popular... otherwise we can expect game and middleware companies to have more lawyers than developers.

    Read the story here!

Basically SK sure Epic Games because they say that the working engine code wasn't given to licensees on time and that forced SK to start modifying (personal conclusion) and eventually develop their own engine.

Wow! Somehow I understand SK's anger but this is just way over the top to obtain more or less the right for the engine... wtf!

    EDIT: Thanks to Beyondunreal

Mhh not that I enjoy Sony bashing that much but they deserve it! Killzone 2 looks like a bad blend of the first Doom3 Presentation and Stalker at mid quality settings. SO FAR (can't judge only upon one picture, however showing such a picture implies a lot).

Anyways, here is a comparison between E3 2005 and now (brightened up, look at the textures [truly nextgen]).

I agree with you guys, graphically it isn't an impact like Doom3 was, nor does it look like a step ahead to UE3 (quite the opposite...).

But imagine - this is although it would be cool most likely wrong - your editor is more like Zbrush and you just paint everything in your level. Or if lighting was done in Megatexture.

In a former thread about Megatexture i was rather critical but if what sa74n said back then applies (Megatexture on every surface) it might be something.

Anyways, what I find really interesting is that id is forcing on licensing the engine. There are several good points like new tools, all platforms (at no additional cost!), documentation and support, you can sell your additions to the engine (with restrictions).

You get many of these things with UE3 though. Depending on the price and how id's project looks at the end, they will sell a few licenses i'd say.

Here is the Press release from id and a report from WWDC.

Technically I'm not totally convinced YET (!)*, but imagine an rpg like game with such a setting. Oh my god... (I really love the style).

*Although something caught my attention, there are softshadows in the pictures. Even if they are prerendered like in UE3 I think it is better than the hard edged stencil shadows (prerendered shadows might give them performance they can reinvest in materials or something else (Mega Texture )).

Anyone know if there's some kind of fix or something to get this game to work with Vista? :\ Stupid new windows thingie-- it's so crappy I feel like killing it. ;< Feels like it's refusing quite alot of games. Pah.

I once read that there is an issue with the emulated OpenGL with DirectX 10... I also read that you *can* solve this by deactivating AeroGlass, might be worth trying (can't confirm it though :/).

Yeah, I started with 0.3 and I'm so addicted to it!

I find especially the maps really, really cool with excellent gameplay (flew over, unbalanced, russus, ...).

aevirex you do love your lightmap scale.

Why? Lightmapscale for BSP is at 8 (where needed) and lightmapping is only activated for meshes, again, where needed (arches 128x128 and windows 64x64 pixel resolution).
