Yes, excellent texture work! The leaves look quite realistic, as do the floor of course

    That's out now? Any good?

Not out yet, but that's what we're developing here at work so I can't help but play it once in a while

Yeah, I was actaully surprised the screen I have at work is 24" widescreen - I thought it was alot less. As Furyo says, you get used to the size very quickly.

Nice! One way to make it look less artificial is to enhance your color shade perspective a bit more, meaning the further away, the more washed out/desaturated colors you get. Right now it kind of looks the other way around. However, overall it's a terrific paintover

The usual additional space should do it

I'd actually say you're narrow minded by essentially saying graphic quality is irrelevant.

That's not entirely what I meant. Of course graphics play an important part in order to set the atmosphere of gameplay in general - to enhance the overall experience and so forth. I'm just saying that SC has essentially never revolved around cutting-edge graphics & technology, quite the opposite actually. It's a fun and simplistic game that I think would remain just as fun either using HL or Source technology.

We got the SDK tools the same time as everyone else, don't know where you got that from teeluu.

For me, even as a graphics artist, games like these are not about graphics or advanced technology. It's about having fun! As long as gameplay is pleasing, the age of the technology it applies is of lesser/non-existant matter

Yeah Sniper is pretty much alone on this. I ask now and then if he needs help with anything but I've done everything I can apparently - I think it's up to animators and modellers now.

insta said it. Back when I worked with SC, like two or three years ago, two parallell projects were developed, SC3.5 for HL1 and SC2 for HL2. Pretty much all artists focused on SC2 while the main coder wanted to finish 3.5, causing a bad situation. SC2 had another coder who solved pretty much everything and fixed every bug, and the artists where firing away at what they did best.

SC2 has been playable for the last two years or more. Several characters and vehicle models where finished but never quite implemented. The team then decided to help the 3.5 coder out with what was left and that's pretty much when things started to fail. Interest got lost, team members got into the industry, well you know how it works. So now there isn't much activity on any of the projects from the team as a whole, but the main coder for 3.5 is still working on it, implementing new functions now and then. However, since the team is so severly damaged, someone really needs to give this a good push to get it back on track. 3.5 is the bottle neck right now, if that's released well then there's really not that much left to do on SC2. It's a pretty sad story, they are both great mods.

300MB of diskspace? I find that hard to believe judging by the size of this game...

  • So I gotta ask

You can make it work by playing around quite alot with many of photoshop filters. I did this kind of experiment a few years ago and the result turned out pretty nice after a couple of hours of experimenting. Too bad I didn't have knowledge in ps actions back then

Authors who publish finished work of excellence get a "spotlight". Then your work is displayed on the mapcore.net front page and you will also get a spotlight distinction avatar over your regular avatar.
