There's not enough direction given to the player to be able to tell where to go without it, and I got frustrated with going down the wrong paths at crossroads before the NPC with me would say "are you sure this is the right way?" and I'd have to turn around (which takes ages in a carriage). Also they constantly ask you to get behind "the rock" or "go to the vantage point" and there's literally no way to tell which rock or pillar you're supposed to hide behind without the map active. The game is just too rigidly scripted to make this more immersive than frustrating unfortunately.

Yeah, I reverted to use the compass. It shows you the general way to go with an arrow, so I stick with that. Every now and again I need to tap d-pad down to check for more details, so that's working out pretty well to me.

Spoiler Just did the mission where Sean gets shot in the head, and they kidnap the camp's kid. Things are heating up.

This same thing happened to me when I was a kid... I wanted Sonic & Knuckles (even though it was already a 2 year old game) and mom got me Sonic 3D Blast. I faked my smile and cried for 10 minutes in my room, lmao!

I've talked with a few people who didn't like it at all, and usually it's due to the same criticism: "it's way too slow, and nothing of interest ever happens."

I can see where you're coming from with this, I'm barely on chapter 3 (someone told me things REALLY pick up the pace around chapter 5 btw) and I'm finding the slower pace to be extremly refreshing for a AAA game, this game really is consuming my life, I find myself thinking about it a lot, even when I'm not playing it. I like the loot system, the world and how you interact with it, it's a really impressive package overall. It feels like a very mature game.

There's some things I don't like, I hate that you have to position the character perfectly to pick up an item so the prompt appears (Witcher 3 suffered from the same thing), weirdly the combat is sub par if you compare it to RDR1, it just feels very clunky to move and aim, you get used to it but it's a bit of a shame.

Oh boy... been a while I've seen people gang banging on a game like this, seems like there's a limit, even for Bethesda.

Felt weird about this since it's announcement at e3, it just feels like it lacks soul. And it doesn't seem like the execution can save it either, as it's the usual clunky shooter as previous Bethesda fallouts and just as buggy too.

Guess this is probably the last nail on the Fallout coffin, sad as I really loved F3. F4 was ok. This... i don't even know what to make of it. Provably a last attempt to put another fallout game out before they move on to their new space game/ip.

    Interesting, might try that myself!

I love that the game is slow, I was not expecting this at all. it really helps immersing yourself, and when action does pick up, it becomes really meaningful.

I wouldn't say I find it to be a disappointment at all, but I do feel like I was expecting something a bit more from it. I haven't finished it though, still a long way to go and have been enjoying it more now that I'm spending time outside of the quests (as with the guy in the article) and playing with the radar off as well, which can get a bit tricky but does help with world immersion.

You playing with radar off totally or with the compass turned on?

I'm sticking with the compass, and I like that I can access the radar every now and again by just tapping dpad down.
