RE1 to me felt great. Even today. Hardly had any old-game UX issues. I loved it. Gonna try to squeeze in REZero before this comes out. Also playing RE4 remake right now (hopefully playing them out of order isnt a huge deal).

Nice! I played the RE1 remake with Chris, and played like half of Jill's campaign before I dropped it. Really amazing game, love how they give you the ability to switch off the tank controls.

And no, it's not important to play them in order at all. I don't even know why they bother labeling them. I think the first 2 were direct sequels, (3 takes places at the same time period as 2, so it's a sequel too) but after that the story kinda went all over the place.

Man, I completely forgot that in RE3 you also get to revisit the Police Station.

This demo reminded me I haven't played the Evil Within 2 yet. I've finished the first, there was deffo some good moments there, but I also found it pretty lackluster here and there. So I decided to take it for a spin right after playing this demo, it's definitely the same realm of video game, so it's really fun. Plus, plays, looks and feels much better than the first one.

One thing that I didn't necessarily like in RE2 demo, was how weak the handgun feels, there's no punch to it and the sound when it fires feels very toyish, a bit of a shame but oh well! Just a couple more weeks to go, hype!!!

Yeah, I get it. I see what they tried to do here, it's an interesting experiment that tbh I doubt it'll take off. Also, the mass market hates the concept of choice, they get petrified looking at the screen not knowing what to do, they don't watch TV to make meaningful choices, they usually do it to turn off their brains.

As for real choice, that's impossible to do right now, unless we'd have lifelike AI that would adjust to every one of your decisions. Right now, you get 2, 3 or 4 choices that branch out to different paths as you said, which is great, it allows the devs to have some creative control over the outcome, it's a good in between, that's why I love all of David Cage's games.

Finished this over the xmas break!

I have no idea how long it took me (anyone know where to check the gameplay time for a specific game on ps4?) but it probably took me north of 50 hours. It's a big game man, and to keep this comment spoiler light, there is a really fantastic slice of the game after the main story ends, that's just as, if not more, compelling than the main story,

I could go on and on about the small flaws this game has, but at the end of the day, as a package RDR2 is one of the most polished and impressive video games that I've ever played. You can feel it's a labor of love and R* should be proud of it.

Just recently, Detroid Become Human comes to mind, your choices actually have huge consequences in that game. Beautiful game too, recommended. I liked this, it was a great experiment for Netflix and the show, but if you played Walking Dead, Life is Strange or any of David Cage's games, it's hard not to find it underwhelming in it's execution.

Gotta say I really liked the writing tho, I'm a big fan of charlie brooker.

I stopped working on Europa for a few months, but resumed recently. I still continued learning UE4, specially the scripting side. Now I'm working to finalize the gameplay vertical slice, which is a bit apart from my area of expertise so it's a bit more challenging.

I tried to find a programmer to give me a hand with the more advanced side. Specially with player movement which require a level of know-how that i dont have, but it's hard to find people who have free time that don't already have their own thing going. I've been saving some money so I'm thinking of hiring a freelancer.

I also been working on concepts, the GDD is "done" and the main hero character design, cant wait to show that.

I was thinking, i don't know if I wanna go a full year without updates, but I don't wanna be too granular about them either, for a few reasons.

Sorry, i didn't mean to hijack the thread.

2018 was absolutely fucking insane for me. Having a kid, announcing Europa my indie game, and things are not exactly slow at work either, we're working on something exciting.

For 2019, i wanna keep pushing forward on my career. I want to try and dedicate 1 hour a day to working on Europa, i think this thing has a lot of potential i just need to keep putting the work in.

I wanna try and be the best dad I can be, my little guy Leon just turned 7 months, and as he grows up I want to make absolute sure i instill the best foundation for his life. So far I'm loving the experience, and I can't wait to see him develop and grow in 2019.

I want to be more disciplined, I feel with a kid, I obviously have less free time, but I'm surprisingly more productive. But there's still a lot of room for improvement, specially in the discipline area. I basically grew up without a father since my 9 years old, and I lacked that. I want to plan my day a bit more rigorously, putting time aside for many things, such as exercising, hitting the floatation tank, reading, and relaxing. I hate following a schedule, but i think if I plan ahead just a little bit, i can improve my day to day life.

I also want to try and get less mad at all the retarded shit we see in the world, the things you give your attention to are shaping you, even if you are only reacting against them. "Pay attention to what you're paying attention to. Become conscious of your focus and guide it."

That it! You guys have a badass 2019

Wolf2 was a big disappointment for me, a step back in nearly every department compared to the previous installment, imho. Let us know what you thought of it tho.

Rage 1 is great, definitely pick it up. It's the classic flawed "could be" masterpiece, which makes double the frustrating to see all that potential, but it's still a great freaking shooter. Hoping for a Ps4 rerelease.

I mean Corey from Santa Monica had interesting stories and observations… but wasn’t involved in anything HL!

I wonder if this was due to wanting to only interview in person, or if people just turned down the offer, I would have been happy to settle for Skype calls if that was with more involved people. Like, how nobody from Black Mesa was available, other than Yang who actually left a long time ago? Can’t believe that anyone in the Natural Selection or Insurgency teams would have found time to speak for this. I’m wondering all this as well cos they put the word out only like a month ahead of the actual HL birthday… you’d expect something like this to be developed over longer time…

    ~

Wow how did they add such graphics enhancements to Source? Can’t believe a mod can get such access to rendering.

In terms of render quality and art direction, i still prefer rage 1 to this. I know we need to take into consideration that Rage 2 is open world, and the scale of the environments is much bigger than the first but yeah, hope the gameplay tips the scale.

We work with the guy that that ported the N64 version, he did all of the music and SFX from the 2 Playstation CDs to the N64 cartridge. 2 CDs of game content onto a 64mb cartridge, wut!

I went to his desk and gave him a hug, ahah!~
