QuoteDisplay MoreEA and Crytek Announce Development of Crysis Warhead The Next Installment of One of the Highest Rated Games of 2007 Blasts Its Way Onto PCs This Fall
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Maximum freedom, maximum explosions and maximum Psycho! Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) and award-winning independent studio Crytek today announced Crysis Warhead® – the parallel story to Crysis, one of the most critically-acclaimed first person shooters and PC games of 2007. Shipping exclusively for the PC this fall, Crysis Warhead is the first title to be developed at Crytek’s Budapest studio, and is built on a new, enhanced and optimized version of Crytek’s CryENGINE® 2 technology.
“We were very pleased with the reception of Crysis from both gamers and media after our launch last year,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek. “That being said, one of the key principles of our studio is to always raise the bar. With Warhead, we are focusing on refining our storytelling and game performance, while also delivering more of the visually stunning graphics and immersive, free-roaming gameplay everyone loved in Crysis.”
“The best result of a partnership that we can ask for in the EA Partners program is when a world class independent studio like Crytek chooses to continue to work with us,” said David DeMartini, Vice President and Global General Manager, EA Partners. “Crysis was an amazing game and is going to be a blockbuster franchise. We could not be more excited to be working with Crytek to launch another hit with Crysis Warhead this year.”
In Crysis Warhead, players will don the Nanosuit of Sergeant Sykes, also known as ‘Psycho’, one of the most memorable characters from Crysis. More brash and aggressive than his Delta Force squadmate Nomad, players will experience Psycho’s parallel story during the events of the original game, finding that life on the other side of the island is even more intense and explosive than they ever could have imagined. Luckily, Psycho’s Nanosuit is just as capable and he’s equipped with an even bigger arsenal of fully customizable weapons and new vehicles, giving players access to the tools they need to dominate any situation. Aside from this new, exciting single player campaign, Crysis Warhead will also feature new multiplayer content. Stay tuned for more details this summer.
Crysis Warhead has not yet been rated by the ESRB or PEGI. For more information about the game, please visit http://www.crysisthegame.com.
Yeah, like I said the problem isn't in the engine... It's the amount of stuff that Crysis has! ![]()
Quote from ThrikThe engine's probably no good for consoles at the moment.
Exactly, even the PS3 can't handle the ammount of detail that goes on Crysis.
Anyways, here's some more info, source kotaku.
QuoteEA and Crytek invite PC gamers to go completely Psycho this fall in the newly announced Crysis Warhead, teased yesterday via CrysisTheGame.com. Developed with a focus on story and game performance, Warhead isn't so much a sequel as it is a parallel story, told from the point of view of Sergeant Sykes, codenamed Psycho, probably my favorite character from the first game. He'll have his hands full on the other side of the island while Nomad is doing his thing. New weapons and vehicles will be at his disposal, and the game will also feature new multiplayer content for those of you who enjoy killing each other.“We were very pleased with the reception of Crysis from both gamers and media after our launch last year,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek. “That being said, one of the key principles of our studio is to always raise the bar. With Warhead, we are focusing on refining our storytelling and game performance, while also delivering more of the visually stunning graphics and immersive, free-roaming gameplay everyone loved in Crysis.”
The game is the first to be developed at Crytek's new Budapest Studio using an enhanced version of the CryENGINE 2 tech. Hit the jump for the full release!
PC only, that means Crysis quality will stay as it is, maybe even better, good good...
rather few but high quality pieces, than a lot of sucky ones!
Good job dude, I also added to my friends list on my webpage! ![]()

Quote from Warbyif you ask me resident evil 4 is one of mankinds greatest achievements that can only be topped (and just barely) by the likes of god of war and shadow of the colossus.
Oh wow... Well, Maybe I'll buy the PS2 version, and play it on my PS3. I think a statement like that, deserves another go of the game from my part.
Since the RE4 I played was for PC, and the port was horrible.
FUCKING EPIC!!! ahahahah
Although I do love Oblivion with all my hearth! ![]()
Crytek uses the same site for Warhead as they used for teasing Crysis.

COD4 has sold 10 million ![]()
Damn, congrats infinity ward!
QuoteDisplay MoreThere are few things that video game publishers--or any consumer products companies, for that matter--like more than reaching big, notable milestones. So it was with considerable pride that Activision's wholly owned Infinity Ward studio told me Tuesday that its war game, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, has just sold its 10 millionth copy.
Infinity Ward studio head Vince Zampella didn't know exactly how many units the game had sold on each platform it is available on--the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC--but did say that COD 4 had been most successful on the Xbox.
These days, monster hits like Grand Theft Auto IV and Halo 3 have gotten most of the media's attention for best-sellers, but by reaching 10 million sold, there's no doubt that COD 4 deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as any other title.
And to be sure, it's not the only game that has reached 10 million units moved--Infinity Ward said that COD 4 is one of "less than 10" games to do so since 2000--but it's still a notable milestone, especially when you consider that, at a sticker price of $60 a pop, even when considering that you can buy it for less at some retailers, Activision has raked in many hundreds of millions of dollars with the game.
Of course, one wonders how many more copies it would have sold had it been available on Nintendo's Wii. But Zampella said that Infinity Ward decided not to make the game for that console because "it just doesn't fit on the Wii. We thought it would be compromised to be on (that) platform."
Well, with Guitar Hero III, Halo 3, and Grand Theft Auto IV inspiring record-setting sales in their own right, we might easily see a few more games reach the magic 10 million mark soon. And the next Call of Duty, COD 5, which is being produced by Tryarch, not Inifinity Ward, might see even bigger numbers.
Indeed, Zampella acknowledged that COD 4 has set the bar very high for his studio, and it's hard to imagine Infinity Ward being able to come right back with another 10 million-seller.
But, COD 4 still has some juice left. He suggested that the game is still selling, that it's map pack add-on has sold 1.5 million copies, and that the main game itself is expected to sell a lot more copies this holiday season.
True or not, hats off to Infinity Ward on reaching a milestone few ever reach.
lol, It's Africa, what would you shoot against? Chinese people? ![]()
What about FC2? Was the game considered racist too? ![]()
nah, It's still TBA!
Yes I know, most of the people get very surprised when I say this...
I loved too much RE1/2/3 for PS1, and when RE4 came out, I was expecting something along the lines of the original games!
For me, the true RE4 is Resident Evil Code Veronica for Dreamcast!
RE4 was a great disappointment to me, let's see with RE5.
