Indeed, aesthetically, looks empty and lifeless.

Some top screenshots would help, so we could see the design!

Another thing I wanna point out...

Working on a gamedev company ain't a labor dictatorship or something. Obviously you don't have the same so called "creative freedom", some of you previously stated, but It's not like you don't need to be creative!

Yes, you will have to follow rules. Yes, you will need to be faithful to the design doc, and to the visual style of the game you are working on, but jeez some of you are making it sound like It's a robot job!

Of course, if you're working on a FPS, you can't transform it into a side scroller shooter, but as a part of the team it's your duty to be inventive, creative, etc.

And yes, I do agree with Hourences. Making maps was always about "long run investment", make your portfolio better, gain experience, etc.

If you really wanna make some extra bucks, do some 3DArtist freelance job, if you think you have enough free time to do it. there's shitloads of companies looking for outsourcing.

    CoJ1

    19.9€ On steam

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/3020/

Might get it on amazon though, only 6.5£

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Call-of-Juarez- ... 960&sr=8-2

Like I said, I played it before, but I wanna replay it...

    Quote from seir

[HP], yeah, COJ1 was really nice in 2006/07 but it had big system requirements.

That's another reason to replay it now! You can play it maxed out at higher resolutions!

I loved the first one! Really, really, really loved... back in the time when I played it, I was really in need of something refreshing!

Plus, the graphics were breath taking! and they still hold up quite nicely nowadays, It's still quite playable as well.

I also remeber the AI was the best there was at the time, the enemies always tried to flank you, many of the times succeeding! Therefor making this game really hard and challenging...

Just googled for some screenshots: (CoJ1 screenshots folowing, not Call of Juarez: Bound of Blood)

I don't give a fuck honestly... As long as I have enough money to pay for my home, my food and the oportunity to work on what I really love!

From where I come from, Portugal, I've seen a lot of poverty, I've listen to my grandmother and grandfather's storys of their childhood, where they had to split a single fish for a whole family for dinner, they started to work at the age of 12 to help out at home, etc. Even my own parents had a poor life, and they went through very difficult times, seriously, some people have no idea...

I've seen enough to not be ungrateful towards life, my motto has always been the following: Grab the thing you love, and make it your life!

I wouldn't leave this industry to work on anything else in this world, just because I will receive a better income, that's not how I want to live my life.

And sure, a game artist / game designer salary is nothing extraordinary, but It's more than enough to keep you going. Besides, it's a matter of time until you grow up on the company's hierarchy and get a better salary.

Call my naive, but It's my way of seeing things...

    Ah, very, very nice!

Funny I was talking with Buddy the other day, I should get my folio remade as well, and mentioned you'r old site. how it was so well structured, the colors, nice navigation, not the mention the really great quality work you show!

And now, I'm completely stunned by this new design! What can I say? It's simple, neat, clear, crystal and beautiful, and even more important easy as hell to navigate! So, big kudos for you mate, to my eye's this is what a trully professional env artist / level designer online portfolio should look like!

One small suggestion tho, make the "Projects, Info, Devblog" buttons a little bigger, or easier to see. It totally slipped by my eyes. I only saw them when dux mentioned you had a cool devblog, I was like "wtf, where?".

So yeah, that's basically it! You're one of my greatest inspirations man! Congratulations.

PS.1 Awesome job with Mirror's Edge, I'm so buying this for PC, as soon as it comes out! I love the visual style... just, love it!

PS.2 Any tips you wanna give us about how you made it? it's pure HTML, right? Where did you get that javascript image pop-up? And how did you tweaked it so nicely to blend in with the page colors?
