Yeah, it needs a lot of work on top of it. I did worked on it for 2 or 3 hours, tried to make it at least "navigable" if such term exists... but meh, all the assets were so rushed, and the textures, and everything needs rework if not redo to be up to decent standards.

I'd also add to all of this, and this isn't restricted to this thread, that I would like to hold Mapcore to a higher standard than some of the replies I've seen here. There is no way we should act like some random commenters on Neogaf, Kotaku and so on. We know better than this, and when we don't we generally have the members on the game's team to shed some light on the whole thing as Composite has just clearly said.
I hope all of you have read this comment! Please, let's try and control ourselves people!

Yep, buddy pretty much summed it up.
Lord Ned, I spoke with that buddy of mine, and he told me there's no other tricks in there. It's just the heightmap doing it's magic with the tesselation. He even said it could be beter, because there's some parts on that mesh that doesnt need to be sooo tesselated, cos you can tell that in that dragon, everything is being tesselated uniformly, dx11 should create lods and non-uniiform tesselation tho.
Anyway, here's the tests I was talking about.

That's not DX11 though, that's running on dx10 with the tesselation algorithm that my buddy created.
As you can see, there's some artifacts in there, due to the 90º angles. High Poly modeling phail, it could be fixed with a slighlt blur brush on PS tho, and it should be fine.

What a surprise...

Yeah of course, it's really easy to put password on TS rooms!

Yeh, there's games higher on my priority list right now.

When the tessellation will be available with CryEngine [HP]!?

I don't know, but I would sure love to play with that beauty on CE!
Tessellation might revolutionize the way we make games, like normal maps did a few years ago.For those asking how this works, I did a few tests with a buddy of mine a few weeks ago, and It's pretty easy. It works pretty much like Parallax mapping, but tessellation creates geometry.
You got to be careful when modelling high polies for this, and avoid 90º angles, otherwise you will have some artifacts. We can still use floaters on the high poly like we did for normal mapping, but we gotta be careful not to exaggerate, and the angles are very important. And then you would bake the object as you always did, normal map, AO, etc, but now you also need to bake the height map, which is basicaly a black and white map, that goes into the alpha map of the normal map.
Here's an example of one of the textures i did a few months ago.

So yeah, as you can see if you have a good high poly, is pretty much just another map to bake.
You can also extract a heightmap from a normal map generated from crazybump for example, to use on terrain or those rock walls shown on that vid, but the artist got to be very careful with the artfcats, and try to get a very smooth heightmap and avoid abrupt transitions.

Erm... thread creation phail!
Guess my head is still back in vacations! Closing this, sorry gus.

So, as we all know dx10 sucked ass and there was (almost) nothing you could do in dx10 that you couldnt in dx9.
now, with the new win7 a new dx is here. Here's a few vids.

It's curious that a few weeks ago, me and the portuguese guy I'm living with did a few tests with real-time tesselated geometry that basicaly reads a height map stored in the alpha map of your normal map and It's pretty awesome!

Same as Ventrillo i guess, but we europeans use TS for clans wars and shit.
So, let's make it like the first saturday of each month or something, 18:00 GMT maybe?

I like it how it looks atm!

Not a fan of the green you choose but works for me!

We also have TeamSpeak btw!

I'm sorry but I have to agree with d3 and the other guys. This is pushing it... But let's not forget what composite said, let's sit and wait.
-
Not really... It's just that bioshock is pretty much a love or hate game.
Everyone digs the art, but it appears some people gets tired of the gameplay after a while.
-
Still is...

Yeah, to you (us), but not for newcomers.
