PS. Their SSAO is the worst I've seen.

Some gameplay.
Tech wise, I can tell their engine is kind of behind the curve, but It's pretty good looking considering. It doesn't look amazing, but it does the job.
I like the art direction, I would argue It's a bit too brown and monochromatic, but ya know, at least it looks different and it stands out from the crowd. But I bet the texture artists (Klein
) had to struggle with all that amount of color grading going on in the game.
One thing I noticed, the world tends to look very blocky, It's almost like the artists didn't really think outside the box when they art passed the levels, and they prefered to stick with the level designer geo.
Everything looks like it's placed very strategically for gameplay, to make the cover swaps, etc. Which makes it look a bit gamey and again, blocky. And there's way too many crates man, but I guess that's what you would find in the back area of a warehouse like this, so...
Good old pogo! Happy bday dude
Orpheus, are you *that* Orpheus?
Quote from ThrikIt's kind of funny how developers have become so good at making it look like there's loads of detail that when something comes along that genuinely has that much detail it doesn't raise an eyebrow.
Yep, our industry is all about "what's the best way I can fake this effect", and we got so good at it we don't really need ways to actually have it all there.
Here's everyone, forward this URL to your managers, ahah.
In my humble and personal opinion, when you place the negatives and positives side by side, working in the games industry is probably better. (Bear in mind though, and I gonna repeat this, I don't know much about how's it like, and how the pay is in the movies industry)
Games industry is still growing, so if your working on it, it's also up to you to help it shape up into a better industry, whereas I doubt you'd have that chance in the movies industry where everything is so set on stone.
Quote from duxFor big shots maybe. When it comes to the pity cogs like us, we don't make more than programmers or artists in any other industry, we prolly get less.
I said industry, not individually. As a whole.
Yes, as a industry, from 2007 onward the Games Industry had more revenue than the Movies Industry for the very first time. (Don't have a link to back that up tho, I remember I've read it somewhere)
Quote from duxThe games industry certainly brings in a lot more money than the movie industry when I last decided to look it up.

QuoteThe thing is, knowing a lot of people that work on movies, the sentiment is the contrary, and they perceive the games industry as much bigger and more friendly than theirs!
Of course they do, isn't the grass always greener in the other side of the fence?
I dunno how the Movies Industry is, but it sure is a lot more mature than ours, which brings good and bad things attached to it. Our industry is not for everybody though, not a lot of people are willing to work long hours for this kind of pay, only the very passionate do. But passion will only get you as far, and I wonder how is it gonna be when we kids decide to grow up, settle down and have a family. Mmm...
Man, San Fransisco was literally full of Homefront adds, and I haven't heard about this game for like a few weeks ago now. I guess they really are putting a lot of money on the marketing of this thing, but that doesn't really make it a good game now does it?
I'm very skeptical about this, since I see this taking the same boat as Medal of Honor did.
I loled at:
"German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said that seven of the country's nuclear power plants that began operations before the end of 1980 would be shut down temporarily for a three months review to see how they would react in emergency situations like that in Japan"
Like what? A tsunami hitting Germany? ![]()
All of sudden, everyone is worried with nuclear energy? Has everyone forgot Chernobyl already?
I would love to join, but I can't give a straight answer right away. I have plans to go to Portugal in April (for Easter). We'll see.
Man I re-watched Inception again last night in blu-ray glory, what a well polished gem!
Chris Nolan is the Steven Spielberg of this decade.

I loved Prey! Best game with idtech4 for sure. Not only it looks good, it plays great. Some game design decisions in that game are just genius!
