That is definitely nice, reminds me of rage!
it's a bit too monochromatic, don't let yourself be affect by the Unreal Tech syndrome and pimp-it up with more colorful stuff and trow more materials into the mix. (Vegetation, cloth, etc)
keep up dude!

QuoteOn the consoles we're 60 frames per second. One of the things that always sucked about 60Hz games is traditionally, if you're v-syncing on there, if you miss by a tiny bit it drops to 30FPS, which is catastrophic. That's a fall off a cliff difference there. So what we do on the consoles, where we have this tight control, is we say, OK, you're going 60FPS, it's v-syncing, there are no tear lines. But if you miss by a tiny little bit, we'll let it tear at the top of the screen and we adjust the resolutions dynamically to let it catch back up.
Nice!

Yeah they use a stamping system, it's in some ways similar to our decals system. Also, on idtech5 you can stamp decals both on terrain and objects alike, this is good to disguise seams.

The good thing about it is that you can uniquely texture everything!
The bad thing about it is that you need to uniquely texture everything!
It pretty much boils down to that.
I know I would love to get my hands on this tech, being the detail whore that I am.
I mean, we used a lot of decals on our levels, open any C2 level with the SDK and you'll see, but we were still limited with overdraw and limited due to texture memory since a decal is typically a 512 diffuse (and possibly spec and normal); with idtech you can have as much decals as you want, as much textures as you want with no impact on performance since everything is baked down into the mega texture. -

I made a few workshops myself, but afaik it's for internal use only, but we can try and release it. But yes, a few video tuts would be awesome.
