No iron sights? No cover system? No +5XP when you kill someone? No care-package? No perks? This will obviously be a flop!

Oh man, yes! Can't we hire the guy to do a M version? :PP
I'm really in love with this idea, the execution needs a lot of work tho.

But again, we need vector stuff, not 3d! Check out the gamecube logo, if you look carefully, there's a G, a C and a cube, genious!

I finally started playing through the first one and i'm glad this is out but i was playing it on onlive so i can't install these textures... i'm not TOO far from the beginning but restarting always sucks - not sure how much of a difference the textures would really make.
They make a lot of diference, to make DeusEx1 less painful on the eyes, I suggest installing a DX10 render and New Vision. (Google for it, you'll find the files you need and guides)
As of gameplay, I also suggest installing "Deus Ex Revision mod", don't worry, it wont change the game drastically, it just fine tweaks the game here and there and make it even more awesome.

QuoteAll of the testers are involved in some way or another with the eSports scene, in particular competitive Counter-Strike gaming, and have apparently been down at Valve HQ giving their thoughts on a current build of the project. Its full name is supposedly Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and is due out in Q1 2012. Whether it's a major update to the existing Counter-Strike or an all-new title isn't clear yet.
Also, from reddit ( http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/j ... dquarters/ ):
(They're not under any NDA so they're talking about the whole experience, quite a good read)
QuoteAmmo is free as in source, it was debated a couple of times through the day though, so it might not be how it's going to be in the final version, even though I personally think it won't have ammo-buying.There are a few new guns (and all the guns have been changed more or less, but their current versions aren't at all final). There are also a couple of new nades, which are pretty cool. There are molotov grenades, which create a fire-blanket that slows players are little. It sounds crazy, but it actually played really well I think, even though the size/dmg might need a bit tweaking. The other new nade is a decoy-nade, that can play firing-sounds, so it can be used to fake that a player is in a position. Not sure how usable it is, but the idea is pretty nice I think.
In the current build armor is also free, but I am pretty sure this will be changed, at least for the competitve mode, since most people here thought it was a bad idea and there basically was no point to even have armor in the game, if it was given for free every round.
Because of this armor-change they also revamped the money system, which wasn't too nice, you didn't really get enough money, so sometimes you would end up needing to have 3-4 ecos or having won 5 rounds in a row and still only have 4k left xD This was also down to more grenades and other equipment being available though.
All the maps have names you know, but most of them have been altered. Dust2 only has very minor changes from the source version, but the other maps have some pretty big changes (most importantly dust and aztec have been changed to try and make them more usable for 5on5 play)
The deagle is about as powerful as in source, but it's hard to tell after such little playing time, we spent more time trying out other guns/stuff mostly.

Really good art, nice presentation too, even tho it hides some of the art. What was your workflow for these? Did you use any high polys or did it oldschool?
I wish we had a spotlight banner to put stuff like this on there! Amazing.

Sure, they have graphical fidelity with Crysis 2... But the environment is pretty boring. It's just a city, not exactly hard to re-create a city is it!.
Oh dude.. you have no idea what you're talking about. Making an intact city or recent destroyed city is much harder than making post-apocaliptic or natural environments like a jungle.
On a tottaly destroied environment (like post apocaliptic) you put a rubble pile in the middle of the road, and it's ok, you put a destroyed pillar in the middle the road, and it's ok, you get away with a lot of stuff, cos it's destroyed.
Same with jungle environments, you quickly brush a few trees, bushes and grass, and shit looks real.
Recreating a city, you need to follow rules, loads of them. Something as small as putting a street sign in the middle of the sidewalk, instead of the edge, and you'll see how it will stand out like a sore thumb, the eye can tell in a second there's something wrong there; that's something you can't have on more stylized / natural / destroyed environments.

Love the GI working on there too, nice stuff!
