lol I tried to play Shenmue a few weeks ago and... well, I can respect it for what it is, but it really is a game you can only play if you really have a lot of time on your hands.

Also, it's single handedly the game that I've seen thus far with the biggest waste of work, ever. For instance, in every interior, you can open every cabinet, and inside that cabinet you can hold and rotate with your own hands every single object. Just because... lmao.

I own a Dreamcast, n64 and I'm planning on trying to get a Genesis soon as well. Always wanted to have a collection of at least my favourit consoles.

Also, Dreamcast is still an insanely playable console, I can loose hours with Virtua Tennis dude. (Also, you can just download games online, burn them to a CD and play them, the console has no piracy protections)

But I have to confess I checked some other work of his in the past… and didn't like it at all :/ is it only me?

This stuff isn't meant to be "liked" dude. More like, admired, and keep whatever feelings it triggers, to yourself.

Started playing the original Bioshock again, since Burial at Sea got me back into it. You can definitely feel it's aged (it's a 7 year old game now - time flies), but on the other hand, it's mostly aged well. There's a lot of openness in the design, and even stuff like configuring controls is surprisingly well crafted. The only thing that definitely does not work is the hacking minigame... it gets old, fast. Still, reliving some great experiences!

Man, what a gem of a game!

Also... yeap, that fuckign minigame is mostly what makes me stay away from it. I didn't mind it too much on my first playthough, because if you really wanna hack something, you have to go through some kind of "pain". But yeah... doesnt really help the replayability.

Oh yeah this movie was great. I haven't been keeping track but I'd bet 10 dollars everyone on the internet hates it.

lol, actually it's pretty 50/50. People either hate it, or love it.

If you're talking in English, you use a Z. If you're talking in Portuguese you use a S, hence the confusion. So technically, both are right.

I never understood how petitions are so popular when they really do nothing but show awareness - and awareness isn't something that will change or buy out corporate corruption or lobbyism. It's like people are content to just sign something and think it'll make a difference when really that's the least of what's going to happen. What do you think will happen if you email the leadership of the FCC, when it's mostly bought out or employed by ISP people?

Short of doxing individual ISP leaders and lobbyists, I don't see any way this will change. You can't use a water pistol to put out a house fire.

Well it worked last time, remember SOPA? It worked because of petitions and public awareness.

Petitions sounds like a very weird and rather small weapon to use against corporate greed and corrupt politic practice but it's what we have, it's david and goliath, but there's nothing that can't be fixed if people unite and change.

This is a very peculiar case tho. Can you imagine outsourcing a game like Uncharted or Last of Us to fans? lol

Like, Epic knows there's a lot of people out there (like mapcoreans) that are dying for the comeback of the next Quake / UT / CS game, if that means we have to do it ourselves, and have fun in the process, then be it.

yeah this just handing the game over to Mapcore pretty much. Time to do thangs

Keep an open mind man, the industry is moving forward and we should too.

Also, this doesn't necessarily need to be a bad thing, quite the contrary, like you said it might give free reign to the comunity to put their hands on this sooner and make the game we want to see.

Epic is aproaching everything in such an amazing way latelty, they understand that locking yourself behind close doors for 3 years, and BAM here's our game, is not the way to make games or engines anymore. Getting public input is extremly valuable. Valve has known this since forever, and i'm very happy to see others opening their eyes as well.

What do you think this means for the industry and those people who would have been tasked iwth making the game previously?

I know what you're trying to say there, it's the same argument people make in regards to having machines do work that people used to. People argue that machines are gonna take the place of normal people and there's not gonna be jobs anymore. Isn't that's a very narrow minded way of looking at it? Very glass half empty?

If they didn't take this aproach, UT4 would never get made, because it's just too expensive to make AAA games and arena shooters are not what they used to be in terms of popularity. So they hand it to the talented modders to do it, everyone wins.
