I'll leave this thread open as long as the dialogue continues to be reasonable. There is going to be an industry-wide debate about this game, of that I'm very sure... I don't have a problem with the course the thread has been on, people are exchanging views, although people feel differently about the topic. As I've mentioned, I think the developers need to take responsibility for how people regard them after they make any kind of game, it's the responsibility of an artist to take ownership of their art after all. The thread will remain open as long as people can discuss the topic in a civil way.

On a piece of film, you can record any kind of disgusting act of violence or rape, or you can film The Godfather part II. You can make filth with games as well, that's what this is. People need to recognize that this game acts as a simulator for genocide, explicitly, the sole purpose of the game as far as any reasonable person can tell is to find and murder groups of civilians. That's ridiculous and the industry should self-regulate against that or risk looking like a completely irresponsible marketplace.

They made a game glorifying genocide... uhhhhh yeah going to agree with Peris, its not my fault that my opinion of them is low, it's 100% their fault and they deserve it.

What's next, the official Al-Qaeda video game? ISIS adventures? Neo-Nazi fun-time? They need to take responsibility for the negativity they are putting out into the world. No one else is to blame for their antics.

Good for Epic. If this were my company, I'd try to revoke the license so they can't profit off of this game.

This is ok ? As some of you said before

Are you trying to say this is the same as the trailer we just saw? I think we both know it isn't. No matter how hard you try to say they are the same, they are not the same.

I've got some buddies making a game about making love to donkeys, but don't judge them y'all they're pretty cool. Come on man. Keep it real for a second.

Also come on FMPONE don't patronize knj

The point I'm making is that who the developers are isn't really relevant, I consider many of you my friends but I would call any of you out if you made a game like this, because it's juvenile and irresponsible. I've said my piece on this game, part of it is not giving it the attention it so desperately is attempting to achieve, but the other part of it is addressing people who are defending it and calling them out because they're also part of the problem here. No one should be defending this obscene, anti-social bullshit.

George Carlin was arrested for saying 7 dirty words.

Bradley Manning was arrested for exposing war crimes.

One shouldn't take the government seriously. Especially conservatives. All new things have had the majority against them at the start. (Even electric cars, which is for the better.)

Porn is porn, murder is murder.

Who are you to decide what is good or bad. If you were born in a remote cannibalistic tribe, you'd eat humans. You'd find nothing wrong with it. They would find us weird for not doing that.

Also, I watch porn, but not the violent or rough kind. I'm not going to watch that because it doesn't appeal to my senses. Same goes for games, some games people will play, some not. Making such a big fuss about it only makes it popular. What one should do, is make the opposite game and don't give the other any attention. Unless it turns into a cult that actually kills good people. But that would happen with or without that game. The United States Army comes to mind. Or any other military superpower.

1/100 people are psychopaths, and they tend to rise to the top. Guess where they end up.

I am fishead, good documentary about that.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXFmo6WipNk

These game developers have nothing wrong with them, they just enjoy themselves.

Another argument comes to mind. Look at football hooligans. They beat up people and ravage neighbourhoods just for sport. I've never seen a game do that, nor porn.

You still didn't answer my question. If someone made a school shooting game, what would you think of that? It's actually been done before, but in saying UE4 hyper realistic kid murdering game. What do you think about that?

    Quote from KoKo5oVaR

Well that is a marketing campaign to distinguish the game for people who like transgression; ie teenagers

I think your average teenager would mock this game, I want to believe the only type of teenager who would find it appealing are the kind likely to shoot up a school, like your Columbine shooters or what have you.

    Battlefield, Counterstrike...

You can apply that logic to anything.Let's say, what makes killing aliens in videogames less bad? Maybe aliens are more peaceful than humans, but they see us as a threat because we are the only beings that kill their own kind or animals for fun. We also tend to destroy the environment we need for living. As agent Smith says in the matrix, we're like a virus. Or like a cancer. Cancer also drains resources and kills the environment it is living in.

So, now applying your logic. If you don't care for the environment, you are bad and you should feel bad. Real life is not a game (could actually be) , where actions actually have consequences.

No you're wrong, content is judged all the time by wether it only appeals to a prurient unhealthy interest, that's why broadcasting the Terminator on television is OK, but broadcasting Cannibal Holocaust is not. Both talk about murder, but one is pornographic about it. The content of this game is trash, as bad as I've seen in games.

How can we get worse than this, I'm being serious. Role playing as a Nazi and loading the ovens up? Is that actually worse than designing a game that only focuses on just shooting random civilians for no reason? The people making and buying these games are responsible in the end for their terribleness, I'm not saying censor them necessarily, I'm saying if you buy this you need to think about it and ask yourself what the hell is wrong with you, in my personal opinion.

Guys we all have opinions about stuff and this is how it should be. But what I don't understand why someone is judging other state of mental health by liking this trailer

If someone made a game about shooting up a school, would you judge them? The emo guy in this trailer is like saying genocide is cool. How is that different?

Porn =/= art, even the free speech loving United States Supreme Court says that. This is murder porn from what I can tell.

So did some politician fund the developement of this game just so they could bad mouth it on the Senate floor? That trailer was just like the developers begging for political regulation of the gaming industry, it seems like a school shooter's wet dream. The developers of this game, every single person who worked on it, are childish assholes and are going to selfishly hurt the entire industry so that they can get free publicity for their murder porn. This game is exactly what every soccer Mom is afraid of, and for good reason, if every video game was like this I wouldn't mind banning them.

If you buy this game you're bad and you should feel bad.

I would say I've been more confused than scared so far. Player navigation is really poor for the most part, I spent twenty minutes walking around a place before realizing I had to click on a random folder. Thanks for telling me? Has happened at least three times so far.

It's nowhere near as scary as Amensia, but that's a good thing in my book, I had to stop playing that game on the first level

I'm keeping an open mind though, it really is a cool game in a lot of ways.

With the new lower res textures, the bricks at A, and the wood walls at mid aren't looking so hot. I'd double the res on those, then it's pretty much perfect.

Ya we're in the process of striking a balance, optimizing things. Making really good progress on that though, should have another update very shortly.

Definitely showing potential... doesn't seem like you've got much to indicate geographic location, though. I'd take a strong look at that next. Gotta try to avoid being a (nice looking) generic bomb defusal map. People like saying "this map is based in X country", it helps set the map apart.

I'd also be careful about repeating props too many times in the same area (looking at those lamps in particular)
