I think as Dux pointed out the real weakness was the enemies. They just seemed boring and samey. There is something really disturbing and scary about the enemies in the original Doom, genuinely more scary than the AAA graphic enemies we just saw. Can't pinpoint why. Also no music. It seems they missed a lot of the shit that made Doom cool...
this is unironically what the new Doom should have been

Of the three games this one probably appealed me to the least, didn't seem to have too many original ideas, just a slick package for some kind of generic action. But I'm keeping an open mind

The art style is really unique in this, it looked extremely original, even moreso than the first game did. Looking forward to it!

Hey everybody!
It's been two weeks since the announcement of our big contest with Reddit, and so far the response has been phenomenal. Over 70 WIP maps have been submitted to the contest, which is awesome. More importantly, we hope you're learning, feeling at home on the forums, and getting more accustomed to posting your work for feedback and discussion.
We're incredibly thrilled to remind you that our contest features amazing prizes from CEVO, Valve, and over $1,500 value in prizes.
If you haven't already, please introduce yourself -- we're all friendly here (except for Dux!!!)
Peace and Hurg be with you.

It's allowed. Back on topic please

Agreed with Dux and Drywall, decompiling is no big deal.

I liked the layout when I ran around it. Pretty cool, only complaint I had is that it never really feels like it opens up into a true spacious area, there's a lot of middle and small sized corridors, not much in the way of a nice open space. The middle being indoors might be amplifying that for me.

Entering a completed project just because you can seems a bit cynical to me. I realise it's a flaw in the rules of the competition, and the same idea crossed my mind after reading the Hotel Gellert thread, but I decided against it because it's not in the spirit of the competition.
Oh well, best of luck to you, it's an alright map if my memory serves me correctly.
This is not a flaw. It's an intentional part of the contest.
The point of the contest is to allow the best possible community maps not featured in an Operation to rise to the top.

Fixed. Exciting stuff!

I think with this game it's more of an artists problem I'm afraid. Must be said however that the art direction seems better than Fo3 this time. I'd much rather play less than perfect looking game with decent quests than the other way around (see Gta V)
I think the art direction is fine, you just named another open-world game that looks better, and it came out a long time ago. That for me is the depressing part, I guess I have to get used to Bethesda gamebryo games having only "OK" graphics. It would be cool if they were PC exclusive and we got to see an amazing futuristic-graphics Fallout, but I guess that's just a fantasy. To me this trailer left me less hyped than the Fallout 3 trailers did, but whatever.
