Impressive but I would be lying if I didn't say most things about it bore me pretty heavilly (setting and assets mostly, no fault of your own), but kudos for finishing a HL2DM map, those guys are starving for fresh new content. I think this will be like Christmas ;P

I like it but it is very flawed.
You need to spend more time on your brushwork and prop placement because of many things just don't make sense or have any utility where you've put them. For instance, ivy, flipped UPSIDE DOWN, on the interior of a bridge, where you also have spires from the top of houses on the edges.

they really rush you through the last two areas which is a fuckin' shame as they seem to be some of the most entertaining and well designed.
yeah it sucks

I'm going to uninstall the patch and reload my saved games so I can run around those, I feel bad for not fully taking in pripyat

has anyone seen the secret ending? its very cool
infact I was delighted about the whole secret area since I was slightly dissapointed i got the "rich" endinganyways there is a patch out, but allow me to make thsi perfectly clear once again:
once installed you cannot resume your old save games, you have to start all over.
i just want everyone to be aware bc i wasnt and now i haev to start all over
, but i beat it so i guess i'll have more fun this time exploring -

Well that sorta sucks, from everything I read with interviews with the devs you could, never said it was cut before release ever from what I can find.

yeah

really though its kind of a short period of the game where you even have contact with the 2 clans, so its not such a let down. they really should have spent more time with that shit

Any you d00ds know how to join the Duty faction yet? Can't figure out who to ask.

so far as I know you can't really "join" at all, you still are called a loner. but what you do is goto the area where the arena is, with your back turned to the front entrance of the duty place (around where the dogs are) and goto your right, you'll see a bunch of dudes set up around a roadblock and there is a metal tower right next ot htem. walk all the way back and find a guy called general vol something. if you stll cant find it just do the quests for the barkeep and you'll get one called do a task for general voll or something, you gotta steal a rocket layncuerj OMG ZI KNOW TOO MUCH ABOUT STLKAERRR

Buy this game kids, just finished it and I have to say I have never been so utterly glad I picked a game up in my life. It just rocks ass, and if you have any interest in Chernobyl or those kinds of environments at all its like a gift from god.

I've spent the last 24 hours on this... what can be said other than its buggy, confusing, and possibly genius.
-
Hehe, Joey strikes again... looks good buddy

Only crits would be add some trim to the edge of the bridge under-arches, add some plant life under the bridge (anything from cat and nine tails to trees, etc), adding some posters to the walls supporting the bridge...
just details ;p

It looks good, great textures. Some variety in colors and texture types would help the individual scenes (natural elements, technology, whatever).

Hmm, I hate to be the guy that shits all over a map because I'm not some expert or anything, but I feel that this map is on the whole very poor.
Allow me to explain, I've seen your previous work. One thing is for sure, you have an incredible grasp on the conceptual and the composition elements of mapping. In fact this is probably one of the best DOD:S maps released in terms of purely conceptual ambition.
Unfortunately your brushwork is, frankly, terrible. You use basic cubes with textures and clashing selection therein, some of the most simplistic brushwork I've seen in a passable map... and honestly I think you've spent way too much time trying to make something epic and on a large scale and not enough trying to make something realistic and impressive. Which is a shame, because you clearly have the technical knowledge.
Basically my advise mapper to mapper is to sit down and work on a small scale, try and polish up one scene and get expertise doing that. Understand how to make impressive brushwork (study some of Valve's maps) and then just go back and revisit these monsters with the lessons learned. Because I think at this rate you're just picking up bad habits and throwing them into an enormous map

I hope you understand, it would be a waste to continue in your current style.

WOW! I'm so pleased its actually getting positive reviews, its hard to remain optimistic when you see such tortured development, but I guess that guy THQ sent really kicked some ass.
