Sweet stuff. I've noticed its easy to tell your work because you do a faint black outline with sharp pastelish colors, usually works really well

How about a map using the dev textures only?

oh my god I love that idea!

I actually think a screenshot contest is better But thats because I don't have the skill to make a real map in less than a year

With regard to the contest, could we set a time for voting to end? Just so we have an objective judgement.

I think we should avoid singeplayer personally, if this contest has shown us anything its that people don't have the time to take a close look at each map closely beyond screenshots and a quick run around (especially not for the entire duration of a single player mission), singeplayer would require that almost as a matter of fact.

Besides, singleplayer maps are an enormous amount of work, I doubt people would be able to make nearly enough content in a matter of weeks.

I gotta give this one to Reno, he did a fantastic job in my opinion, and while I like almost every map I tested in their own way (and comparing arist to work was especially fascinating, rocketsilo was a real step up, cool stuff Nexus) I think that it came down my affinity for green and how solid the design in weaver feels. Very coherent and very unified which design wise makes it feel so much larger than it is.

    Awesome work everyone. Seriously cool

Well thats an interesting approach to level design. I find it real lame though, its almost like getting maps cheap without having to put up with extra employees. You also don't have to worry about hiring anyone for that department, so really you guys get a better deal out of this. But one question, how do you know how to tweek the gameplay if there is no maps available at launch? Anyways, best of luck with you guys and I cant wait to get my hands on that sick infestation tech.

Well truth be told both sides come out of the deal in great shape, as many of the guys on Mapcore can tell you NS has served as the bridge to jobs for several quite a few mappers. In addition to being featured in a commercial product and getting paid once you're map is purchased I imagine all the NS2 devs will be very familiar and supportive of your future NS2 maps. In turn Unknown Worlds who probably can't afford to pay for part time work gets to buy individual maps to pad their upstart dev game, which means that people working with Source tech get to make a few more great maps.

So its pretty much a win-win.

I was curious if any company sold 6500x3700 monitors, dissapointed that a google search says no

The screenshots are phenominal, but I'll believe it when I see it on my computer. Gears looks fantastic though for what its worth, I still think its glorious.

Most of the stuff looks pretty good but I'd be more worried about quantity than quality, compared to some 3d artists I've seen there just isn't alot of work in the reel.

I do agree with Furyo though, just apply. Its not as if you're going to transform into a different person in a month or two when you've got a new project completed and it will suddenly make you desirable if you never were, you should apply and see what people think of your work now.

While it architecturally looks cool, the texturing is a bit incoherent. You said you fixed some of them up though, so good on you

Hopefully you'll update us with some new shots before too long

pretty much my favorite person on mapcore, funny, approachable, talented, consistently contributes to contests and makes quality work, ahs a hot gf (oooh yeshhh) ... also lives in the favela of brazil in a squared off compound with armed guards smoking cigars and taking concubines from poor families

the epitome of an mapc0rer bscly

Looks great, but you should do some huge pointy towers in the background to give it that epic feel

Only crit is that the displacement's heights are too uniform, I think some major areas where the displacement's droop down more would make it look even more dynamic.
