wow that's great! Agreed about the sand, not sure what I'd replace it with however

Quote from Senturaisn't that just semantics fmpone? more so because once you start playing it you probably won't notice it as much as in the trailer...
Semantics? I don't think so
I mean it kind of throws a lot of art at you and its a sort of unique look so that it's sort of effective, but unique doesn't really equal aesthetic. I'm not all that in love with what I see, tbh. They've got their own thing going on, but the execution is pretty lacking in a lot of spots. Would I notice it when I'm walking around, yeah, I think I would, I noticed it in the trailer after all.
Aesthetics is obviously subjective, I dunno, to me the art is just a bit tacky looking and not in a way that you can excuse simply because it's borrowing a 70s or 80s style. Again, just my take on it. It doesn't help that the gameplay seemed a bit stiff as well. But I'm guessing I'm in the minority on this one.
Anyway they've got people talking and so good for them, it's at least trying to do something a bit different
I just think the overall level of execution and polish is a bit lacking and feels a bit more like a sketch than a serious approach. That sounds pretty harsh but I guess it's just my opinion. I also think the fonts are just wonky looking.
Basically I don't think the overall result here is actually that aesthetic, it's just atmospheric. Even if you're going for a corny 70's/80's vibe I still think it should be inherently nice to look at (blood dragon). A lot of this stuff, if you focus on it for more than three seconds, it starts to look pretty... lame. I think it would fall at the feet of the art director more or less, but again I sound like I fuckign hate what I see, I don't at all. It's good but not great

"There’s a lot going on, it’s just that we need to keep stuff back." - IGN
12 new franchises? fuck yes
It looks good. I'm not sure i like the deliberately rough around the edges futuristic art design. It's a bit odd how everything feels simulatenously hyper-futuristic and 8-bit at the same time. it's not convincing for me atm, and the head bobbing was driving me nuts.
Maybe I'll come around though, definitely looks like a project worth supporting
wow this looks unbelievable

I've just gotten to a point where the puzzles are a bit tough, so I'm taking a little break while I map. Fun atmosphere, really pleasant art direction too.
They perhaps don't appreciate how difficult it actually is to do what you did in Spark, is my guess. It's not easy to do what you did, and most people never even get to that point.
Where you should go from here I'm not sure, but you're not helpless by any means.
It is unfortunate, but it does show the dangers of being a big fat guy. Especially italian dudes have genetic heart troubles. Shame to see him go, he seemed like a really soft spoken human being when he wasn't whacking people
Quote from svenWell I just took a look at the official site and it doesn't look good. OG Planet, the North American publisher stopped supporting the game on June 10th due to low player activity. Supposedly the game is not officially dead yet, but if you look on the site of the developer, FIX Korea, you will see that the last updates there were announcements regarding some kind of Angry Birds exhibition in december 2012.
Ouch.
Well, it's definitely a sign that the mp FPS market is more cut-throat than ever, a game like that would have found a big audience not many years ago.
edit: OG planet... bring it to steam and see how it does.
edit2: nevermind, it just looks kinda wonky/bad
Quote from Rick_Don the topic of players suggesting that gooseman's ideas of CS are brilliant: i wonder how many will jump over to support Tactical Intervention.
I'm not sure but it seems highly unlikely T.I. is supporting much of a population these days. I don't think that's necessarily a verdict on Gooseman's ideas, since marketing is pretty important and I doubt they were able to do much of anything in that regard.
We all know Microsoft would have done amazing wonderful things had only the mean old Internet not cried foul. Microsoft is always doing amazing wonderful things

Counter-Strike is a cultural phenomenon that is hard to compare with any other game. It has its own heritage and lineage and it really became a sort of focused dust/inferno/train/etc type shooter eventually to where it's this very myopic corridor shooter in a lot of ways. But what people like about it most of all is the simplicity, it's hard to really evolve on that and not alienate hardcore players.
Still buying a fucking PS4. You snooze you lose. Good for the industry though that they woke up and saw that htey were in serious danger of alienating their most vocal customer-base
yeah that guys can be a big flippant with his commentary, hattongames is good though
This is amazing. Seriously, you're awesome.
Back in the day your lighting tutorials and level design book were humongous references for me, and helped me immensely. Thank you for doing what you do.
Quote from Thurnipi do not agree with this kind of leak, i would not leak anything if i work at a big company, but people just want to know, right?
big leaks are almost valve's main pr move at this point. it's ingenius in the sense that they're not forcing people's interest but people are breaking their doors down to learn more. it's like if a bakery cooked food so good people smashed the windows to get in before they open... ridiculous
Quote from ThrikOh god.
http://www.valvetime.net/threads/update…tracker.243580/
Valve's project tracker leaked, includes L4D3, HL3, Source 2, and much more. Sounds like the HL3 group is small compared to the others, suggesting development is early stages.
Maybe waiting for Source 2 to be fully ready?
oh man
