I really want some 3D glasses, but I'm not sure its worth it.

I'm not saying it's wrong or right, and it may well be the case that the game wouldn't have been made at all previously. At least this way it gets to the fans.
But I do wonder.

yeah this just handing the game over to Mapcore pretty much. Time to do thangs
Quote from (HP)Keep an open mind man, the industry is moving forward and we should too.
Also, this doesn't necessarily need to be a bad thing, quite the contrary, like you said it might give free reign to the comunity to put their hands on this sooner and make the game we want to see.
Epic is aproaching everything in such an amazing way latelty, they understand that locking yourself behind close doors for 3 years, and BAM here's our game, is not the way to make games or engines anymore. Getting public input is extremly valuable. Valve has known this since forever, and i'm very happy to see others opening their eyes as well.
What do you think this means for the industry and those people who would have been tasked iwth making the game previously?

This movie is gonna bloooooooooooow

Seems like an interesting approach.

Was forced to watch the Blind Side with Sandra bullock today while waiting for jury duty. It's an alright chick flick sort of, I'm mostly posting this to complain/say that Sandra bullock movies are evil

Congrats man, really happy for you!
Im leaving Creative Assembly in 2 weeks time to go and work for Sony in Soho (London). Really excited about it, gonna be working on their Project Morpheus virtual reality stuff. Should be a nice change from scifi. Plus my commute will no longer be an hour there and back every day!
Woot!

Soo badass. Nice job!

You guys are still thinking about this the old way ie build it, ship it retail, put a 60 dollars price tag on it. This is Activision entering the games as a service era. Away from the CoD every year at 60 dollars and into the continuous life of a single large gaming platform. Essentially taking what they do best (shooters) with what Blizzard does best (online gaming and services).
CoD has a yearly 200 million+ dollar budget (production + marketing). If they want to replace that franchise (and honestly, they've every reason to fear that franchise dying over the next few years), why not spend 500 million on a single game that's going to last them 5 times as long as any CoD?
Because there is no guarantee people will like the game, or that anyone will care. It's Bungie, so it's going to be in good hands, but still. This is art. Multi-million dollar disasters are a reality, and making $500 Million dollar gambles is just plain fiscally irresponsible and basically indefensible from a business standpoint
When you're starting in that big of a hole, the default has to be "this is a colossal, dreadful mistake." You then have to prove it isn't
Anyway that's a bit of a distracting from the game itself, but yeah, I hope they don't regret the budget because it would have industry-wide consequences

A friend told me about a japanese book store close to Irvine and I went there this weekend... that place was like heaven for art books and just cool shit in general. Now I know where to spend my monies~

This has probably become my favorite art book ever. It's fucking trippy to see his drawings in a large format.

This is a super hard book to find apparently (I had never heard of it before). It contains art from Final Fantasy X, XI, XII, XIII and a bit of A Realm Reborn. Lots of great refs and inspiration on this one, totally worth the money. Would buy again A+++

Really cool book by a chinese artist. It's awesome to see how oriental heads think about art and the cool tricks they use for composition, storytelling etc...
That does sound cool. I miss the days of old comic book shops, and the random cool shit you'd find there. Not much of that going on in my city.

Gave my computer a little upgrade, wasn't too expensive and way faster than my old Radeon 6950. The game Daylight was included but I have no plans to even bother with it.
And right after I bought it, they bundled WATCH DOGS with the card, just my luck ... however, it got more expensive because of it.
I just got this same graphics card when mine died, actually. Pretty cool!
I love how easy it is to install graphics cards. Take out the old one, put in the new one, plug it in, and boom, you're done.

This looks solid and polished, but the lack of color really hurts the shots IMO

Nice display Fmpone! I recently read a few roundups to see how much would it cost me for building a machine from scratch.
How much?
I'd jump to 27" but I'm afraid my budget wouldn't allow to get a good one so maybe better spend that money on a 24"(?).
It was about $530 on amazon. Very happy with it so far
Quote from (HP)Nice, 27" seems nice.
I got myself a HP 32" and I have to admit is a little bit too big, you'd think bigger is always better but 24" / 27" really is the sweet spot.
all this did was make me want a 32", damn yoU!!

American Hustle: nice, but super overrated.

If you aren't asking yourself why Kevin Spacey needs to be in a video game, you're crazy

Jesus, spending this much money on developing and promoting games is going to be unsustainable in the long run.
If that 500 million figure is accurate, a lot of people are going to lose their jobs because they spent 400 million too much

omfg... what
Maybe they're willing to eat a loss on the first game to build a franchise. Because that figure is absolutely ridiculous, and I'm sorry, it will not recoup that investment.

I agree that new, cutting edge engine almost inevitably means a bad competitive experience, but who knows what we're in store for here. They might go TF2 style and really nerf the graphics so people can actually... play the game (I'm looking at you, UT3)
