been trying to consolidate the areas i've worked on, custom textures, a couple custom models from Ted. Almost all placeholders replaced now, probably created something like 40 textures, mostly small stuff. gonna move on to the new areas now. thanks for the feedback so far guys, and keep it coming

also gotta give credit to Warby who hooked me up with a cool paintover of A to help improve it~

Oh we got another dog too...a Fox Red Lab to go with our two Springer Spaniels.
8 Weeks.
[Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/QhukUZ4.jpg]
20 Weeks and now bigger than all the rest, top two Springers are the outlaws dogs.

So many doge!
Quote from BeckDisplay MoreAll these dogs!
Had to have my dog put to sleep last Friday. He was really old and weak, but he was an awesome dog. Dopey as fuck, liked cake more than meat, scared of thunder but liked to chase garbage trucks. Crazy mofo

People used to stop us in the street because he was the biggest springer spaniel they'd ever seen. When he was around 9 or 10 we thought we were going to lose him, seemed to suddenly get old. We got another puppy and it seemed to give him second wind and he livened up again. Used to be all fatherly to the little one, nudge him away from the fence to tell him he's not allowed out there etc. All the little one used to do was hump his leg xD
RIP, JJ, gonna miss you old man!

Hi guys,
I'd just like to let you all know that we have listened to the communities response, and i've persuaded the devs to extend the contest.
Entrants now have until October the 1st to submit an entry! We are also going to speed up the production of some of the guides and are hoping to have an in depth tutorial on the gameplay mechanics, game modes and design theory of insurgency maps up in the next few days.
I will aslo try to set up a Q&A session with the devs to help anyone who has questions to ask.
Hopefully this should give people the time and information they need to produce some truly awesome maps!
That's great news.

Color me impressed.
QuoteDisplay MoreThe boss battle with the APC was well designed: I wondered how I was supposed to fight it, until I noticed the conspicuous amount of mines laying around. That's good design, it made me feel smart, but it didn't punish me for not figuring it out fast enough. Great stuff.
Two major criticisms:
1) I didn't get to fight the strider. If you show me a strider, I should get a chance to fight it! (imo)
2) The pacing was a little flat, the entire time you're just under threat and scrutiny pretty much, except for a very brief meet-up with the friendly NPCs. Still, this doesn't hurt the mod too much because it does feel action packed. Just a little too rushed perhaps, a good warm-up part in the beginning, and maybe after you kill the sniper, would have brought things to the next level IMO.
A solid 8/10 I'd say, with those two relatively simple improvements it becomes a 10/10. Solid stuff and on the verge of brilliance.

Or who knows maybe someone will even land a proper job.
I cannot stress this enough. There are plenty of talented folks sort of inside/outside the industry posting on these forums. You may be waiting for an opportunity, you may have assumed it won't happen. I know a few of you I have in mind as I say this, who are perfectly capable mappers. If you know the Source engine, you must see this as an opportunity worth seizing.
and I'm talking about beyond $1,000 and all of the additional prizes. I'm talking about a gig, a resume piece, the knowledge that you won a contest. Many of you should start work right away. *uncle sam pointing at you*
Insurgency is a great team. Kikette and the rest of the team created some EXCELLENT assets, and maps to learn from. Carpe Diem.
-
Keep in mind that this is an opportunity to get your work published in a proper title. If you don't have much or any industry experience, you know how critical that first game is in terms of job requirements etc.
Yes the timespan is short. So go for it, there might not be as much competition.

Exciting stuff!
Who will rise to the occasion????!

I agree A is a challenge. I'm having to steadily evolve it because the layout there is somewhat strange. People may not go for chairs, I have no idea. I'm definitely coming close to the line. The floor seems visually not popular at all, so I'll investigate what else I can do there I suppose
Quote from VilhamYeah I would get rid of the chairs, can you not do something like this with the cabinets? http://www.nycominc.net/images/product…ume%20Hoods.jpg
I think players would like something like that more, yeah. I'll look into it for sure.

Consoles. Lmao.
Is Ubisoft getting some lucrative exclusivity dollars or something?
-
You guys win! Something. I guess. Not really. good job tho!

Created a few more areas, the map is probably 1/3ish complete right now (Mid complete, A complete, CT complete); which means T spawn, T links to A, T links to Mid, T links to B, B links to Mid, and B links to CT are needed. The bombsite and spawn will be time consuming, the rest won't. Ted has been creating some props as well, which helps.

And yes, PC gamers can now say to Crytek “We told you so, you had to keep Crysis exclusive to the PC and keep pushing the graphical boundaries.”
To be fair, that does sound like a good idea. It's what brought them to the dance, as it were.
Hope everything is well with Crytek. A shit load of Mapcore folks over there.
