It looks like you have a good grasp of the editor, but the content of the map seems a bit whacky and silly. If that's what you're going for, cool. If not, you might want to try working with reference photographs

I have been in the industry for so long now I dont even remember everything I worked on. I am happy to be doing what I love to do and in all honesty lately I have been more afraid that I'll end up unemployed for a long time again which was more soul crushing than working on a bad game. And I have worked on some bad games before let me tell you lol... None of it compared to having to push shopping carts at walmart while looking for work. During the interview they showed some of the games that they sold in the electronics department and one of them was Call Of Duty Black Ops and for some reason I pointed and said I worked on the first one. I am not sure why I bothered to mention it but nobody believed me anyway. None of those people were able to understand that there is a world outside of that place.

I had a guy talking during break with someone else talking about how he wanted to learn Unity but he messed around with Fallout modding. I mentioned that I worked on a couple really big mods for New Vegas. He said "Don't you push shopping carts?" I told him I had been working on games for a living for more than 10 years and he gave a sarcastic smile to his buddy like I was full of shit then continued talking about this one time he loaded up Unity.

*sigh* I'm more worried about experiencing shit like that again.

This post made me angry at the universe

Aww Shucky Ducky thats nice. I'd really insist on using fewer colors or at the very least making sure they don't clash as much, but I guess that's raining on the parade a bit

Those shots were not aided by the Source engine's lighting at the time, it would look a lot better now simply because the engine handles sunlight a lot better. Still nice though!

You should watch the finals tommorow, E-sports is really entertaining. It ranks up there with College football (US) for me, only difference is it's way more depressing because only one team ever wins ultimately, and the players put their hearts into it

Oh mate, liam, mate, mate. I'm sat here right now in my pants with a cup of tea and a biscuit (that your mum gave me earlier, lovely lady) listening to music on my speakers blaring out as loud as possible whilst waiting for one of my programmer homies to fix a bug with the unity tools.

We miss having a prop guy with us man, all our stuff is outsourced at the moment and can be a little problematic sometimes.

To be serious for a moment though: I love my job. I love not being in a studio. I love not having to travel to work. I love not having to work stupid 9-5 hours and pull stupid hardcore crunch overtime for weeks on end. I love that at UWE we get to make what we want with no publisher interference. We do have a deal with an investor but they let us do what we want. Sometimes people are like "Oh my god, how can you work like that, how do you not get bored?" and I sit here and think "Oh my god, how can YOU work like that? Travelling in a subway or bus to work with annoying people or stuck in a cubicle making a game you hate whilst you listen to your dumbass lead producer think up new retarded ideas for a shitty game?"

I can get up and go out whenever I want. I can go for a coffee with friends during the middle of the day and then come back home and carry on working into the night quite happily. The flexibility is fantastic. What do I lose out on? Not being considered a real "game developer?" Nah. Being in a studio don't mean much anymore. I mean, you're hardly there for long until you get axed these days.

I think what you're missing is that the online-working sort of lifestyle isn't for everyone, some people crave that real life interaction that you're thrilled to avoid. No offense, of course. It can be really shitty when your interactions with people boil down to a chat room, or skype, or what have you.

To me it seems obvious you should just work on whatever you want to work on. You're talented enough to make that decision. I've never felt more fulfilled than I do now, because I'm doing what I want to do, which is make levels for an awesome game. Try to find your happiness, you seem to know where it is... once work is over, at least.

But isn't the ultimate issue AI being smarter than us? How can that end up being anything but a disaster?

Thankfully I think we're all a little too old to grapple with that during our lifetimes, I think that problem will fall on our kids.

This is only a horror scenario in a world of unregulated capitalism. In an ideal world the wealth generated by the robots will be taxed adequately and distributed to the population. Maybe then 20 hour weeks will be the norm and lots of vacation days.

Im losing confidence in our ability to arrive at this kind of a solution. It seems like income inequality is just growing, and government is more and more carrying water for the same businesses it's supposed to regulate. In other words, what were dealing with really resembles unfettered capitalism.

Anyone ever wondered about what we could do without a job ? Even if I don't like that much to work, I trully don't know what else I could do during my life, weird isn't it ?

This is also what disturbs me. If machines truly are going to be smarter and more creative than humans, it's almost like we've lost all reason to exist, and it only makes sense for the machines to decide to remove us. If they didn't, I guess we carry on, but life would surely feel somewhat strange knowing we have no constructive purpose anymore, because a higher life form is in charge and making all of our decisions for us. It reminds me of animals in a zoo, existing because we allow them to, a true sign of being low on the food chain if there ever was.

Definitely in the extreme Zombie fatigue camp, but a bigger issue from my perspective is that this will be competing directly with L4D3. That seems like a bad idea.
