i cant imagine how it could possibly create it all by itself.
There are algorithms who can manage that. You can google around for some papers. Its interesting. My opinion of that application is: it sucks! Why? It does not make any sense. For what should it be used? Digitalising architecture? Dont make me laugh.

It just blows my mind away. It just takes the tought away, that Source is only static lightened. Great!Wfr, Sindwiller

Alcohol and tobacco are more dangerous than cannabis. It's been studied and proven for a long time now.
Well, alcohol and tabacco are making more physical damage than cannabis. But, cannabis (and alcohol too) are destroying brain wards, where a overdosis alcohol can lead to deception, paralysis and bad body coordination. And where a overdosis cannabis can lead to psychosis, schizophrenia etc. I saw that on my brother

DX10
Well, DX10 might be the best DX of all time. Besides, DX sucks just because its only clamped to one platform. And DX10 is clamped to only one version of this platform: Windows Vista. Thats a reason enough, to throw DX away. Now.
On the other mind, DX has the ugliest code available. Even the GTK-API looks much better and is easier to learn than the DX-API.

I also got this ingame (oldish model):

I think it needs a normal and a spec map. It does not look very realistic without bumpiness.

HAHAHA. yes! a common misconception that develops when you're mainly raised by your mom. lol
W00t? No, thats wrong. Ive got a friend, hes one year older than me and is raised by his mom. And he is a fucking casanova. And another one, the same thing. And no girl (except ONE, but thats another story
) does like me. And i am mainly raised by my father. Wth?Wfr, Sindwiller

Hello everyone!
Thats my first model in Silo (well, my first model who is worth to show
): A Boron Octopus from the X-Universe. The newest X, X3, is a very nice space-simulation with a very interesting story. Unfortunaly, it has a very, very ugly ship-design comparing it with X2 or X-Tension. Well, i'll maybe add the redesign to X3 as a mod when i have it (i had X-BTF, X-T and X2 but my machine is not capable of running X3 good enough for playing, so i waited until i get a new machine)."Original" Octopus

Uhm... well, that just a 08/15-Starwars game with better physics than the other SW-games. In fact, the physics are'nt really new (uhm, HL2??).
QuoteSo, fake.
I dont think so. I would think, that PRT or other Spherical Harmonics based lighting algorithm was used. Those algorithms arent maybe effective, but they achieve the illusion of global illumination (you mean, Ambient Occlusion, muhahaha) very well. Anyway, the video sucks. It does not show any new things.

Im not sure. Regarding that one GPU needs to stop parallel processes to recalculate NURBS-geometry into vertex-geometry, and regarding also, that the output (vertex-geometry) is often very, very highpoly so it needs a relatively huge amount of RAM to save all data. Even workstation-graphiccards, with a really big amount of RAM (1GB for *one* QuadroFX 5500) have problems with rendering high-detailed NURBS-geometry in realtime. I think, NURBS is atm something for non-realtime rendering like ray-tracing.
i didnt mean having one dedicated to converting nurbs to mesh, i meant having one dedicated to just nurbs, then superimposing (i guess) that nurb model on the rest of the frame. or something. i'd hate to have to code that engine. :/i can't wait for quantum computers
!Well, there are'nt NURBS-based graphics-accelerators anymore and there won't be new in near future. And when there will be, then some hardcore workstation-graphiccards like QuadroFX.
