Another thing i thought about was a similar game like Rainbow Six where you can take the terrorists as prisoners. If you let them alive they could help you or get you more informations and so on, while if you kill them you would lose team mates who don't want to work with you any longer and you would have less informations about other terrorist's places.

Abu Ghraib? Guantanamo? Not very valuable imho.

so if you wanted to promote a certain view / value in your game how do you make sure it reaches the people that NEED to learn about it ?

You basically can't. Except if it's controversial to it's limit. For example, a game that holds a very negative view on guns respectively the right to own guns (apropos NGA). There are lots of countries where such controversial discussions about that right exists (such as America, Switzerland, etc.). Something like that would definitely reach both the supporters and the enemies. It's just an example though...

I would learn maya or max seeing as that is what you will be using in a professional environment - unless you end up scripting things then a knowledge of unreal would serve you well and you'd probably end up using an inhouse editor anyway.

I just need to build a few sketches of a level and export it.

Yeah, but it's game-specific-dependent. Or am I able to build the goemetry alone?

    I think so

GtkRadiant is free (both as in freedom and freebeer ) and exports to Wavefront obj.

It's the standard Q3 editor. Its handling is mostly the same as Hammer, although there may be some differences.

http://www.cgtextures.com/content.php?ac…t_normalmapThis technique by Scott Warren shows how to (very efficiently) make *good looking* normal maps for photo textures in no time.

    I prefer this method: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/gerald.hun ... nfhwtw.htm

It's faster and the result is better imho

Hey, I killed my cat while waiting for the next Naruto episode...

If that was during the first season, then fair enough. But I'd have to punish you if it were for the second. (no where as good as the first right now...)

    It was... Shippuuden... *awaits punishment*
