Black Mesa source ? Though this map is not really HL1 themed they could make use of a good and new DM map. Who knows. There aren't many good mods out

No thanks, we only use our own home made goods.

And if you were to make this into a BM themed map when we release, I think it would be kind of hard because of all the hl2 content specific stuff you have created.

Subtle lighting techniques - I like

Good use of limited HL2 content - Nice

Cool big open main room - Pretty sweet

Walkways for added vertical game play - Fuckin sweet

Over exposed lights on certain walls and in the hallways - Bad - Use light_spots if necessary.

Over all I really like it, but one thing that bothers me is the concrete with metal on one side and no trim, like the metal is painted onto the concrete, give those areas some trim and you will be good to go. BTW, whats the FPS in that main room?

    Architecturally WRONG

    But I like it

I say continue some of the beams down the wall for better flow.

somehow manages to look worse than the original heh

    Bscly

I say re-re-make it again, and try not to use so much of the original geometry, but instead, use a general idea of what the area concept is and build from there.

Well no shit. The maps that I show are for visual purposes only. So shut up.

Yeah, and those textures have zero effect as well, just make everything solid shaded.

Why rip on him for doin something a little different as far as style goes? We can judge pretty much everything except performance and gameplay from a screenshot, so any map on here can be a fantastically fun map or a real dud, no matter if it looks like something warby makes( ) or something I make( )

Hey, my name is logic, nice to meet you.

I was implying that he should incroporate it rather than having it be just useless geometry.

Its too bad that cool geometry has zero effect on gameplay. :/

Remakes - my specialty as of now

You arent giving the map any "update." The point of remaking a map is to incorporate the new features of the newer engine, while still retaining the same theme as before. You almost must make the map "make sense" as no half life map ever made sense, meaning, you must come up with some sort of idea/theme/facility type.......ect ect ect. Because right as of now, its just a random walkway with rocks on top of it? That doesnt make sense, make it some sort drainage area, or even a mid-desert water treatment plant, but anything but...........nothing.

As of now, you have nothing but a port, give it a makeover with some more updating of both visuals and gameplay, maybe even add a walkway up top for some more Z-axis play. (which is what I plan on doing with Stalkyard.)

So, give your map a theme, search for images on google for references, but most importantly---relate it to a real life area rather than just random shit. THEN post what you have and I garuntee you will like the results.

Anyway, they look good, and for some reason, I like that security guard one.

JeanPaul: That's some awesome stuff. I'm jealous that I can't throw that sort of polycount at MP maps due to BSP limits (nothing like dropping in the second base and getting hit with a MAX_MAP_BRUSHSIDES error, then spending a few days systematically destroying what you've created).

MAX_MAP_PLANES is even worse for me

I did decompiled many ns maps when I joined the NS Forum community. But later I realized it was wrong to do so I started working hard on my own maps.

I feel me dissatisfied and pitiful

When you say decompile, do you mean "just for reference" or "I used other peoples work"

If you only use decompiles for reference, its 100% okay, but if you steal work, you deserve this CTF conversion
