There's definitely a tendency towards it in the game. A lot of it has to do with the levels. Many have realistic terrain with very scarce and low cover and allow for tremendously long sight lines. Furthermore, many levels have a sort of bowl shape, where the center of the map is surrounded by elevated ares, which allows snipers to lie on the outskirts and scrutinize the center, as someone with a microscope studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water.

Operations is probably the best game mode and the most WW1-feeling one. It takes the push/frontline vibe of Rush and makes it about holding ground instead of arming objectives inside a 1 square meter clusterfuck area of death. :D

I definitely recommend the 40 player version in general. I tried 64 players but it felt a bit overcrowded on the maps I tried, though there may be exceptions.

I must admit that I have never played a Civ game before. :( I am interested in this tho! Feels like it might be the right time to jump onboard.

The game feels pretty great most of the time and it's really, really polished and pretty. I just wish DICE would let the design team have more influence on the maps. :P They can be very uneven when it comes to layout and are, at times, insanely unreadable.

    But overall...

I've heard some good things and some bad things. I'm waiting for reviews and if it's decent it might be worth 15-20 euros during a sale.

First one was great, I was pleasantly surprised. Not your average generic action movie! Work took us to see it since we did tie-in/crossover stuff with the movie.

I'm on media blackout for the new one though. :D

Time for a little update in order to maintain some momentum! :D I am currently gathering refs and planning for the art!

I also decided to rebuild the entire level (with same dimensions etc) with new brushwork. I do this for two reasons: firstly, since the map has changed so much, a lot of brushwork is very messy and hard to work with. Secondly, it's to create more of a blank canvas for the art and make it easier to make changes without having to move a lot of temp detailing and bits and bobs.

I'm curious if the names it pulls on player deaths are picked from a random list and not pre-selected, imagining the game pulls your real name on death out of sheer luck.

That aside, I really like what I see here, could get this game just for the singleplayer to be honest.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I've been burned by BF singleplayer before, despite awesome trailers.

  • Hitman - World Of Assassination

    • September 30, 2016 at 10:19 AM

Yeah, I agree with HP, it's fine if it fits the game. And in the case of Hitman, it definitely does. Each chapter is supposed to serve as a fun little toy you can replay, examine, goof around with, complete challenges in, etc. If it was a linear, full SP game you'd probably press "next mission" and be done with it and you'd miss out on a loooot of content (just think of all the ways you can complete a mission). Furthermore, they cleverly expand the use of each mission by introducing elusive target special events and such.

Finally, from a business perspective it makes sense. They are essentially turning the game into a living product, which is incredibly hard to do with single player games. That means that sales don't spike at release and then hit rock bottom, but instead can be sustained over a longer period by keeping it in the news cycle.

And the successor is @Terri (with @rosk as his assistant)! He'll be in charge of everything from now on so if you got any questions or requests feel free to contact him from now on.

    Cheers!

I would like to thank you for your diligent work hosting the server. You have been very generous and patient and I am certain a lot of Mapcore mappers are very thankful for your service. I know I am!

I wish pitrd's golden pearl of splendor was still a thing (OG mapcorians will know what I mean), but in lieu of that I think you deserve a shiny CS:GO service medal! :D

Furthermore, I would like to welcome Terri & Rosk to the position! Thank you for helping the community out! Let me know if you need anything related to the server now that RZL is retired and I'll sort it out for you. :)

Over the last four years the accumulated bill for the CS:GO & TS server is around a thousand buckaroos and while I don't mind footing it, if you want to pitch it you may do so here: http://clients.fragnet.net/grouppay.php?h…-5d6e7-5bf75-51

47 minutes ago, Corwin said: I just put in my resignation at work and will leave in about a month back to Britanny in France, as while Germany had some perks, my current commute time, work hours, and renovations were creating a whirlwind of stress and lack of energy, and were damaging my relationship with my wife almost beyond the point of no return. I started trying to come up with a plan to be able to move back home with family and friends, and out of the blue a neighbor showed up at my doorstep and asked if I was selling my house. Turns out he owns a restaurant across the street, will retire next year, and wants the house to turn half of the garden into parking spots for his restaurant, otherwise German law says he cannot rent it and so he'd lose a lot of money over time. So everyone's happy, I don't have to finish the renovations (big load off my back and cuts down on further investments I'd have to make to properly finish it and make it easy to sell), got a good price for it given the state it's in, and 2 weeks after he showed up I've got a contract in hand and am signing it tomorrow afternoon. I'll try to work from home, the area I was raised in doesn't have ANY game companies, but the immediate focus will be climbing back up the hill for my couple and catching up a bit with my kids too. Also being back to the ocean is gonna be awesome, I never really knew what to do with my family around here where there's only forests and hills. The plan is to move back to this area, kinda close to family but still not at the very tip of Britanny where driving to anywhere in Europe takes 5 more hours.
