A big phat no-no to using bots to make any design decisions, in my opinion. They can't substitute human players, not by a long shot.

Bots are useful for checking (early development) chokepoints timings and for checking angles and generally how "fun" a specific spot is or can be.

As soon as you think your layout is getting pretty decent, you should organise a playtest with human players though.

Timing depends. Bots can be incredibly stupid sometimes and if your paths involve anything other than simple, flat floors (jumps, crouchjumps etc) it can be a hassle.

I recommend using a stopwatch and running to a location as both teams. For very exact timings, host a local server and have a buddy join, then both head to the same path and see who arrives first and by how much etc.

Far Cry 4 isn't a game you should turn to if you want all the twists and turns to make sense. It's a sandbox of crazyness and fun. Why are there military transports in friendly territory? Cause it's fun to blow 'em up is pretty much the answer. If you were allowed to, the player could've single-handedly killed the entire Pagan Min army.

But there's some things I gotta agree with though, like the frequency of Karma events. It happens a bit too often.

I just finished the main campaign and I have some criticisms too. For me, I was disappointed that the weapons and enemies weren't balanced more. A smg that I hadn't had the time to use yet was obsolete 5 minutes after I started playing (I had way better options). Some of the later guns completely nullify some of the gameplay structure ("heavy" enemies are supposed to be the enemy type you can't just mow down, but it's very easy to do so with some of the later guns). You're not left with a lot of challenge and each Outpost becomes more of a chore than a challenge by the end of the game. And yes, I could've "self-nerfed" and used shitty weapons, but there was so much stuff in the game that contributed to the players' OP:ness. All those health-skills, all those weapon-skills, all those bags that allow you to carry 50 nades and shit etc. Plus, I wanted the weapon variation and ultimately settled for just embracing my status as an unstoppable killing machine.

Buzzsaw signature weapon. Dat OP. D:

I really wish there was a difficulty above Hard... rarely challenging anymore.

EDIT: And it's not solely because of the Buzzsaw.

    Looking good m8.

As for the last part, doesn't it look like the classic "I'm a model so I'm only lit in one way" issue? I would consider adding rock models to the more sunny side that can have sunny lighting on them.

I'm not anywhere near completing this game. Still loving it!

Earlier I was ironsighting to get ready to take out a rhino to increase my wallet size. But as I did so I realized what I was doing lmao (read the last sentence again and spot the irony). I laughed.

Just recently I was asked whether or not to burn up drug fields or to use the drugs to fund the rebel cause. I think I'm overthinking my decision immensely but it's interesting to think about if you actually were in that position. Idealism vs realism and such.

One of the coolest levels for me, thematically at least, must've been the Chernobyl section of CoD4. The way you patiently played the mission from start to finish, with all it's twist and turns was incredibly immersive and impressive. Nowadays, it feels like CoD and similar games just jumps straight to the "explosive parts" with no real buildup or atmospheric sections.

For gameplay, I remember really enjoying the finale fight of HL2: Episode 2. Half Life in general has a lot of cool design.

Nostalgia wants me to mention a lot of CS 1.6 maps. I'll go with Office. When I was young, I was a little pub scrub so I didn't really do competitive defusal and for pubbing office was a lot of fun.

I wonder when someone will have the balls to make a game about playing a pedophile serial killer in an open world environment.

I actually thought about the possible appeal of playing as an Iraqi/Afghani insurgent once, purely from a mechanical perspective (stealth, planning, deception, evasion etc). I realised that you can easily flip the scenario around and make it a Red Dawn type game and it would be totally okay.
