the ending was pretty intense though. didn't think it'd hurt the kid so much firing of the gun. nice to see a pro-games point of view though (although this is just as polarizing as are the opposing sites' "documentaries")

  • Germany to forbid the production of violent games?

    • e-freak
    • June 23, 2009 at 12:53 PM

    Well the short version is:

The European E-Sports League (ESL) used to hold finals on friday nights and invite players to different cities where they would play in front of "the masses" (up to 200 viewers i think). One of the latest "Intel Friday Night Games" should have been in Stuttgart the friday after the school-shooting of Winneden (which is 20 km from stuttgart) so the city of stuttgart prohibited the IFNG for "obvious reasons". The players and the ESL swallowed that one as it seemed to be not the right time to discuss about "Killergames" again. The next IFNG should have been in Karlsruhe but the mayor (who is currently running in the election campaign for the next period) prohibited the Games again after the relevant office already signed them to be OK.

The relevant office for the youth and some ESL people organized a protest-marsh then but as it is often, our politics ignored them.

Current Development is that the federal parlament signed a new law that allows the BKA (German FBI) to block webpages if they contain child-pornographic material. what sounds right at first is supposed to be one of the major mistakes of the politics in the last 30 years. The seperation of powers is destroyed (a police/secret sercive with judicative might), instead of deleting or hunting down child pornographic material and theyr distributors they just block the access via domain, and it's an easy and uncontrolled censor-mechanism that is basically the reverse of our free and democratic state as proposed in our constitution article 5.1:

    Quote

Article 5[Freedom of expression, arts and sciences]

    (1) Every person shall have the right freely to express and disseminate his

opinions in speech, writing and pictures, and to inform himself without hindrance

from generally accessible sources. Freedom of the press and freedom

of reporting by means of broadcasts and films shall be guaranteed.

    There shall be no censorship.

    Display More

the nice thing is: the pirate party and other oppositional parties claimed that this new "censoring"-law is going to be abused, which the goverment demanded heavily. it was then that the law was put legal for two hours that the first member of the gov claimed to extent the censoring from child-pornographic material to "killergames" and it could take them another 2 months before they ask to censor opposing political webpages...

one member of the current goverment left his party and joined the pirates now and we had demonstrations in all major cities against the law and it seems our constitutional curt is going to reject that law (at least that's what everyone is hoping).

(if someone is interested in the german basic law (constitution), which is imho one of the best constitutions in the world, have a link: http://www.bundestag.de/interakt/infoma ... index.html)

funny thing is you mastered source sdk model import and failed building a map (from the sounds of it). Prop_static isn't a brush entity but a point entity. Use the point entity and try again. If this isn't the reason for the crash then you might check out the polycount but if HLMV shows it all other applications should be fine with it.

you don't need the _idle one afaik. just tell the qc to reference the standard model again and you're good to go.

ain't a too bad deal. HP, once relocated you can still search around for cheaper places and looking at Hessi's Pics that's not exactly downtown he's living (though that's compensated with the tram stop) and Frankfurt is after all a pretty expensive town.

well hard to tell but atm i think it'd be too noisy as it's missing an eye-catcher (though that may change with colorization). also not sure on the proportions - the left side seems to be smaller than the right one. looks like a decent project though

What about something like IOT (internal Off Topic) or just something "Members Only" if you want closed feedback on something (not necessarily art related but also if you have some kind of beta test)

Well, it's election-year (EU and German Parliament) so it's no surprise politicians trying to goof around for as many grand-ma votes as possible. We had these discussions before and we will have them for a good while to go, but a) they will forget it anyways or b) if they manage to push this law far enough there's still the option of a petition (as have been for the censor-ship of internet-sites) which, if it reaches more than 50.000 votes will force the parlament to reconsider the law and last but not least as you already pointed out correctly, there's the constitutional-court which is most likely to give all of the involved ministers a big "go-fuck-yourself".

seems like gabe wasn't a big fan of sequeling either... but well, seeing some more footage and plans for this, i can understand why this is a sequel. Don't forget steam can help with dynamic pricing so maybe there's a huge discount for L4D1 owners, which would make it basically price technically an addon if you change in the first two weeks(?)

Hey there, dunno if it's the right sub-board but I'm currently working on a model of the crashed airship on Mos Eisley (see picture for specific scene) and I can't get a hang on more pictures or higher res pictures of that damn wrack, which makes it kind of hard pointing out details and the guys from star wars battlefront did the worst job in the world recreating that model so it's not a help either to look at theyr approach.

I was thinking of using submarine references as well or old ww2 planes as the materials seem to work very simmilar but that still doesn't help too much on the detail forms of that pile. Anyone having some magic resource or a good idea what extra resources to use?

Edit: The Name of the ship is "Dowager Queen" but well Google research for that is complete nonesense (and Jah Dowahga Kwee-Kunee doesn't response anything at all)

    finish your tf2 map.

on another note: define 2D-Game. I'm currently working alot with Processing for minigames and it's not too hard and you can achieve pretty good results.

wow l4d2 is one big "shock". was thinking that package would be DLC not new title :/ the rest of the show was pretty cool, especially the lion head stuff. i remember they presented something very simmilar about 3 years ago in some dev magazines where it was a concept with some pinoccio figure, but seeing the high quality they put this up to, i'm really excited.
