i've worked with every tool except paintshop i think. play around with photoshop a month and you will not want gimp back... none the less - more on topic: i think that this book seems quite interesting though i don't know it's release date - because i think a book should mostly cover the background technics like normalmapping and such but as this is something newer i am not sure if it covers it

Sindwiller - sometimes it is easier to change rout if you hang somewhere. I first also tried modelling and i sucked bad ass - but it took me 4 months to recognize. then i started skinning and it brought me to teams like black mesa and resident evil: twilight and today to beta position at filterforge.
skinning and texturing helps you to understand alot of mapping and modelling - you learn how light works and what makes a texture "breath" and all such things. maybe it is better for you to try out basic texturing (take photoshop or paintshop - the rest is a pain in the ass) and learn this - then you go back and try to model and map. (my tip: sourceblog.org - they have around 30 different metal lighting and skinning tuts - all showing a little different perspective of the best way.)

AWESOME. but is there any chance you will do a dod:s compile (with other models of course)?
-
good lightning. good focus. good theme.

yes all canon frames i've used until yet (eos 300, 350 and 400 and eos 300d and 350d) felt very good. i am using 350d but i just use an standard sigma 18-50 1:3.5-5.6 - i am going to buy "makro rings" whose increase the distance between camera and lenses - supposed to help getting a better makro
-
yes blog in it self is something different but somehow the name fits imho because especally when people posting wip stuff and so on it's often like reading a blog - but you have 45 of them on one page

i think that most people who had voted 2 (like me) voted because of this "black mirror" effect in composition with the flower as "colored contrast" - which is kinda unreal (but gooood
)what camera do you use (obligatory question)?
-
So i am not sure if it is allowed to post links to other gamedev forums, but sourceblog of course has an total different view on things. Check out the new sourceblog at http://www.sourceblog.org - i think it's one of the best sites to get into the skinning, or at least i started there (ok i did some skins with iphoto+4 but that doesn't count, does it?^^)

Stunning! This pictures are very nice. Where's this Conservatory and are those waterflowers in reallity that blue o.O? if or if not - the picture looks incredible good. also the architecture looks handsome in the way you caputred it.

This pictures are awesome. The Firstone is somewhere between hope and depressing - a little strange but none the less a good picture.
second one has intersting object and the lines of this leaf (and what's on it) are very cool looking with this contrast
number three made me think of scotland - in a positive way. this picture is just totally handsome though this flower is on the one way very nice to see but it can hurt a little if you touch it.
at fourth and fitht picture the fitht is the - imho - better one. the rim/halo around this flower makes it look outstanding and the different flowers' directions are very nice catched.
thanks for sharing with us

btw. What cam do you use?
-
like it. i had a simmilar idea ages ago but never finished more than the concept... it's cool to see own art in the context of architecture and style you want it to be
-
so non the less you made a good map and a good font choice

-
with bringing objects close i meant how far can you zoom to still get a 1 meter in full size?
-
do you know resident evil twilight? i am just wondering because you have a moon as logo (ret is developed by moonlight interactive studios with such a moon as logo) and we use the exact same font in our dev logo...
-
how close can you bring objects with this and is it compatible with my eos350d?
-
wow doesn't detect this as cheating?
-
lol wtf? ban this bot and delete the entire thread
-
nice trip it seems... how much did it cost (apart from getting to stockholm all inclusive) and how long did it take?
-
that's just 1024²... not so hdish
for me it looks to foto like - a little more paintness wouldn't hurt. -
i think the resident evil: twilight team i am a member of would like to take part in testing this tool
