sounds cool - but you should then think of the possibilty to jump on the carts, which would sound even cooler imho

apart from the missing shadows, self shadowing normalmaps and lacking parallax or highres this indeed looks like doom3. Oh and the soldier on the left is pissing?

look for "eninnew" (that's my default) an look for "custom brushes photoshop grundge"
The eninnew was done by some guy from the modding szene and has everything from paper overlay, scratches and plastic to hakenkreuzes, weapon brands and tree lines. You can't really do any wrong with them.

Go XSI - stable, easy and you do everything by hand. I can't cope with either Max or Maya while 30 Minutes of XSI Vid-Tut told me most of what I have to know now for game modelling (just props of course, no player modelling)

that's awesome - thanks for sharing

Big enough and have enough players go TF2 as Thrik said. If you have at least 4 players per team (better
it becomes the best lan-game ever - and is yet "less known" as a such. -

The Sierra Release was way cheaper and included DoD, CS, TFC, Riccochet and Both Addons - for less than 10$ so it is a little costly now that EA and Steam are only selling it part wise and then for at least 10$ the franchise.

Do these rocks already have a normalmap? because they look very flat and a good normal map could help a lot (see TF2).
Anyway: Great looking!

Yes I thought about buying a copy but I think I have to wait until next year or at least till the advent-time (Advents-Zeit kA) to have the time to enjoy it...

You could always look for some fellow modders (as you have ins on your resume you should know enough of our sort) and build a mod for source or unreal engine and then give it to valve or some dev with good connections and ask them about it. I think that's what Turtle Rock Studios went like and ReNo's company Outerlight with The Ship (correct me here if I'm wrong) and unknown worlds with NS (allthough NS and The Ship were full playable mods and not just prototypes).
If you can make it this way you have an AA Title (not quite an AAA most propably
) on your list and the chances of getting to another company with your whole team (see DICE) or as a single person (see Counter-Strike or Team Fortress) should be high enough. -
Not exactly a Custom Map but more an original return:

QuoteBy the way - has anyone even seen the screenshot from the Alien ship level that was posted some time ago? Just so you see the game isn't just about beaches and palm trees, this is my mission Very Happy
"Core" it is called? ts - mapcore, mapcore never changes

First one is best.
Second lacks contrast and is too "warm".
Third looks odd.

Wth is the guy doing on this photo? Very nice photo, congrats on your awards!

i think it looks nice, maybe a bit too detailed ?
I don't think so - the bigger problem is that TF2s interiors are quiet small in the stock maps. That's a gameplay decision: Imagine you defend the docs at 2fort and you are in one of the hallways leading to the cap room you can block invis spys and if you build a sentry as an engineer the sentry will block out too fast enemies.
So - if you still keep in mind that larger hallways will always advantage spys like outdoors it's ok and stick with it. But if the whole map is that open you should keep a close eye on class balance!

doesn't really fit. Your foreground has round, rimmed edges and your background is plain, edgy and filled painted.
(still great work though
)
