I think it'd just make a lot of things harder to scale down an entire mod. The Source grid is pretty big, unless you're planning something really big like an rts?
Just mapping alone you'd be making things very hard for yourself. If you used a 1/4 scale, any small detail that would normally be less than 4 units you would have to model it. This might be okay for a lot of things but it'd drive you mental if say you just wanted e.g. a brushwork window ledge or doorframe or smooth arch etc. etc.

Yeah Rare HQ is not far from me, based in a small town that is only otherwise known for its zoo. They gave a guest lecture in one of my graphics lectures and demo'd Kameo prior to 360 release.
lol @ Scotland comment.

I can't stream it either, could you provide a download link?
Edit: Oh I grabbed the link from the page source, hope that's okay.

I'm with Rick, I thought TFC was balls, but this I'm looking forward to because it seems Valve are taking a good hard look at the gameplay and making it fun.
I found TFC manic and totally inaccesible to new players because the vets were doing all this weird glitchey shit all the time.
It will be a new game, just don't hope for a replica of TFC, if you want that, go play TFC or wait for Fortress Forever?

First off, very freakin nice and nice choice of music.

I have to say I noticed that grass sprite spinning round too, it was a bit distracting. The first shot could maybe be longer or have another angle to get a decent shot of that lovely house. The last shot has so little going on compared to the others it looks very 'nothing' and doesn't seem like it needs to be included at all.
Also, a bit picky, but lose the non-centred album title for the music in the credits. For consistency it just looks off.

Plus Valve have borrowed their style from Pixar if anything, do they mention this in interview anywhere? I'm too lazy to read. Anyway I wonder if they brought in new talent to create this style, seems such an impressive departing from all their other stuff.
Can't wait.

as imagehost i like http://www.xs.to
I just tried this and it's good/fast.

Now need something equally as good but with a firefox add-on, like the ImageBot add-on I used to use for Imageshack... was so fast

That's a wee bit mean Warby, unless it was a joke?

Congrats dahlia, but I agree this isn't a thread without scans/proof

Wow cool, nice donation!
If I had more time I'd be ferreting around in this for things to scavenge. As it is that will have to wait a few weeks. Look forward to checking it out though.
*downloads for later* Thanks!

Since I can't try the maps I won't vote so its fair and shiz.

Very nice MKz and Psycho that looks much better!
Anyone else noticed how downhill Imageshack has gone these past few months.

? c&p-ing into the vmf would have achieved nothing in this case.
Still be interested to know how this happened, dux did you accidently load the file into hammer 3.5?
If not it suggests hammer 4.0 uses the old .map format in some way and did very weird stuff when it crashed out?

Omg noobs! I WILL NOT BUY THIS SHITTY PRODUCT.

-
Looks like the last 2 screenshots have AA.
I wasn't even expecting it this year, wow. Is it going to console too, cos I don't see many people's rigs being able to play that (looking remotely like that)?
-
Ah of course, duh. Well there you go then. vmf -> map -> rmf -> vmf again.

-
Pretty much anything can import/export objs (I used to use obj format when using Wings3D and Milkshape together - power combo
).Sounds cool, I will check it out when my internet fixes. Currently mapcore seems the only site on the whole internets I can access

*edit* In response to buddy:
Hmm I don't really agree, the reel shows stuff of differing quality but if anything that shows Rick can create props that are detailed as well as relatively simple.
It does seem the building is Rick's proudest work but there's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing to say you must have X number of high-quality pieces before you may look for a job. One large detailed scene is enough to show you have the skills and patience to make a large detailed scene, no?
This reel is def much better than the last. Good luck to you getting a job Rick, I'll be interested to hear how it goes. Are you looking for work mainly in the UK or are you hoping to move abroad? (I noticed the +44).

Okay, upon experimenting with the original file a bit more, turns out its a perfectly valid .map file except for two missing '{' braces:
Change the top of the file to:
QuoteDisplay More{
"classname" "worldspawn"
"skyname" "sky_day01_01"
"maxpropscreenwidth" "-1"
"detailvbsp" "detail.vbsp"
"detailmaterial" "detail/detailsprites"
"mapversion" "360"
"wad" "\documents and settings\oli\desktop\nw\nw.wad;\steam\steamapps\[email protected]\half-life\nsp\ns.wad"
{
( -288 -304 128 ) ( -288 -272 128 ) ( -240 -272 128 ) PK01/PK01_PANEL01A [ 1 0 0 0 ] [ 0 -1 0 -64 ] 0 0.25 0.25
...
... and then rename to .map. However I've still only loaded it in Hammer 3.5 and not Source (it crashes if you try loading directly into 4.0).
My internet's being screwy at the moment so I can't access the Valve wiki or anything to see how to convert brushwork from Hammer 3.5 to 4.0. But I'm sure you can give that a shot now
