haha i don't even know if it was a spoiler but i had it "spoiled" for me by scummy console pirates who got the game early while we sat around like dickheads playing shitty indie games.

It was all a ploy to get you to buy indie games.

this is one of the things i said my censored post.

frankly it's pretty shameful. although they have been doing it all along with TF2. that piece of shit poker game would have sold 3 copies if it hadn't been for the TF2 hats.

i can understand valve want to make some money and i bet this was a nice little boost to the indie developers, but it sure as fuck alienated a lot of customers. there's a lot of people who want to play portal 2 but who refused to pay40 bucks for some shitty games they would have to waste 4 days grinding away at.

and i am a complete valve fanboy.

I am okay. I am still a person. Who is okay. I am busy doing safe things that are supervised by a responsible safety associate.

(no spoilers, even if you're displeased with the ARG shenanigans.)

wow.... well done dice, that looks incredible.

the animations in particular are brilliant, and the sound design really is beautiful.

as for a scripted story it doesn't actually bother me that much. open world games are great and i adore stalker and fallout 3, but i only ever played them once, so replayability is not a huge thing for me, so to experience a well-polished single player is great.

and look at it, it looks sexually arousing.

A movie about the greatest man that ever lived.

It's a must watch for anyone who liked F1 before it turned into the circus that it is today or who just enjoys races in general.

I just wish there was more footage about Senna in the movie though, all the testimonials can get a bit tiring.

disgustingly rich people partying all over the world, and then treated like some kind of martyrs when they die due to their own greed for adventure.

    what a hero!

less than 500, 10 miles out of cambridge (if you've got a car that's a poxy commute), and in a nice village.if you pay less than about 400 a month the place will most likely be a bit shit:

    Code

those are mostly single rooms in an occupied house, and tbh i'd be happy to pay an extra 100 quid for my own house. a place of your own is infintely more enjoyable than a tiny bedsit or a shared house.

do you live in a village now? are you dead set on getting into the town centre? cause it's really not all it's cracked up to be, no matter how dreamy cambridge is it's not worth jizzing half your wage over accomodations on.

the UK isn't Germany bro, public transport is pretty shit.

pogo, ask your employer if they have any preferred estate agents, or ask people at the company who have had to find places who they would reccomend.

Wolf: ET did something sort of similar (capturing CP, setting dynamite, repairing the tank, using special items) all had a progress meter or a special bar that very slowly filled up. No animations besides your wrench wiggling in front of you or what have you, but still that delay as you needed to do things in an otherwise very fast paced game. I felt that it worked really well because your teammates had to cover you, or you took a big risk accomplishing something like repairing the tank. I almost always played engineer so I almost always had to deal with those progress meters, and I never got bored by it, instead it was suspenseful because of the risk I would take focusing on the job instead of combat.

    that's a very good point!

but at the same time without valve's input counter strike, tf tf2 etc would be nowhere near as good, in fact they would most likey be dead.

minecraft mods actually make the game better

A bit off topic, but i just had a spontaneous interview with a postproduction house in berlin. I needed to show them some stuff i did in the past,so i threw together this little motionreel, heavy wip, but better than going there showing them nothing meanwhile, had some email contact and interview

with the recruiter of a good gaming studio, but things are going really really slow...even applied to Crytek or Irrational Games but never got a reply, so i won't

even try to apply to Dice...

I am sure it is not the correct way to just use the fantastic song by Boards of Canada, i bought the track but not the right to use it on this reel, should i write

them an email asking them for permission or just use an open source song like the ones given in youtubes audioswap? or its this fair use?

awesome. some of the most polished pictures on a portfolio in a long time! for a games industry job i guess some presentation of another engine but quake3/cod might be usefull (or at least a hint in your about page, that you know unreal or cryengine)

it doesn't matter what engine or tools you use, as long as you can learn stuff then nobody cares. especially for your first job they expect to have to teach you their tools anyway.

    well technically he does.

minecraft made him money while it was in an alpha stage (no idea wtf this beta is about, beta is about bug fixing and polishing features, not adding half-baked features and never fixing bugs..).

his mission statement was to constantly update minecraft (it would "possibly never stop being developed"), and that payment now was to help him add more features and polish minecraft.

now i have had a lot of fun with minecraft, i had more fun with bros in the creative mode (which is now gone, gg), and i only ever bought it to have my own custom skin (15 bucks for a custom skin lol, pretty good business sense though, i bet a fuck load of people bought it for that reason alone), so whilst i have gotten my moneys worth i think it's kinda bad to say that he owes nobody anything or that he has finished the game.

also, the modding community have added more content than a bunch of guys with their own offices and 33 million bucks, so yeah, not sure what is happening there. what would be nice is if he implemented some of the good mods so that we could all play together with the best features, but he simply adds bugs that break decent mods.

i would love to hear mojang's opinions on the whole development of minecraft, i am sure it would be either very interesting or very frustrating to read.
