    http://insomnia.ac/reviews/introducing_the_indie_scene/

/edit beat me to it, i was too busy reading some of the reviews.

the thing about those faggots is that i really don't get what they want; everything to be a kooky jap game? everything to be permanently underground and the creators never see any success? do they want the downfall of the videogame media?

i can only agree on the downfall of the videogame media and the culture they have spawned.

but the reviews, write ups, blurbs, whatever you want to call them delve into such pompous high-brow faggotry that it's hard to take them seriously.

nobody cares if you studied philosophy unless you can apply that knowledge in a meaningful and udnerstandable way to the masses that you are writing for. i could go into a 20 page diatribe about how important it is to correctly tune a guitar or wire a house and how that directly relates to the public's misunderstanding of Braid, but that would just make me look like a prick.

or maybe they just want to piss people off? make them write angry posts on forums like this one.. but then the articles are carefully written and often self-deprecating because they know the amount of trolling and blatant provocation going on. so what's the deal?

as for the limbo review, he raises some interesting points, but then slams portal for being praised, as if it's the games fault that it was praised? and looking at it from todays point of view, yet elsewhere on the site they review "the first game ever made" and insist that it would be unfair and impossible to review it from todays mindset, and that we must *cue wavy lines* travel back in time.

i dunno, they just seem like a bunch of seriously butthurt faggot weeaboos. so let's get sentura a job on the writing staff.

such a disapointment, i saw a sentura response to an indie game that sold well, and my heart skipped a beat; i come in and find this shit.

can we set up a blogsite, like that one insomniac.whatever, just to troll everybody with senturas opinions. that would be awesome.

Having seen the place, I can tell you Norway is a very beautiful, peaceful country with really kind people.

    except this guy.

wasn't he a member of the nazi party? and aren't those kinds of people still very common in norway? (i mean white supremacists, not crazy gunmen)

being an english-speaker it is very hard to discern any useful information, as google translate does a shitty job, and english language newspapers like the Daily Mail are to be trusted about as much as Murdoch.

anyone care to keep us informed?

not much of a waste. yes it probably was drugs. drugs are pretty fucking good, that's why people keep doing them.

Sleek! Modern! Web 2.0 colors! Grants wishes! Ok not really but I like minimal and simple designs, typical scandinavian stuff :<

    thats actually a nice direction

i think it's the combination of retarded hurrdurr humour and super serious gang wars that gets me, like, pick one, otherwise it just feels very uncohesive. but whatever, good luck to them.

it's a blurry line and there is no real answer. look at red orchestra, they made a mod, won some money and then polished it and made it a retail game.

but then look at TF2 which was a paid for retail game that now has most of it's content made by the community.

look at the ship, which was a mod in every traditional definition, then sold, then remade and sold again.

look at minecraft which took an idea built from XNA codebase, remade it in java, released it as a paid for product. the line between modding and indie and full commercial AAA titles has become blurry just because of the way the industry has evolved.

there is no real definition because you can always find something that will break the rules. the fact that there isn't a specific path to go down is exciting to me, you always have options.

as for expansion vs dlc, that has changed along with the expansion of the internet. an expansion pack circa 2000 was practically a sequel by todays standards. dlc can also range from a single weapon, a character reskin, or even what was once called an expansion pack (as an example, the 'back to karkand' dlc being released for bf3 features new levels, vehicles, and weapons, along with much more, it's comparable to the bf vietnam expansion released for bf1942), so things change, the lines blur. it is not possible to truly define these things anymore, and it is up to the customers to decide whether they see it reasonable to pay a dollar for a shotgun (homefront) or whether they feel 20 dollars for a 4 hour single player campaign (hl2 episodes) is acceptable.

you guys are all like little senturas when it comes to movies

just because they reboot a movie 6 months after they released the last one doesn't mean it can't revolutionise the film industry.

what about we have a bunch of logos that follow the current design, but mimic the studio logos of companies mapcorians work at - and it randomly chooses them as you browse and reload pages etc

Thanks a lot for posting those jaboo, I agree with Minos.. that map is just dripping with atmosphere! Did you make many country specific textures? ie Serbian and Croatian signs, graffiti, propaganda etc I'd love to see that.

AGRRRH.. Why does everything set in Eastern Europe have to be like Stalker? There are literally hundreds of people on Moddb who insist on posting "that looks/feels/reminds me of Stalker" on Raindrop's page.. or anything else that's set in Eastern Europe.. and it's really annoying. It's like saying The Darkness feels like Max Payne because it's set in New York...

just get a soviet mail order bride already, this obsession is becoming tiresome.
