yeah, the normal map gradients are not there yet, but that is somethign we can play with.
and i agree the inner lines don't work too well, but if you don't have something hinting at the inset cube then it looks odd, needs something

i think the colours need tweaking, not just the normal map colours, but the mono ones as well. i like arhurts palette; also think we need to adjust that normal map colour to make it more .. betterer.
also that interior feels a bit odd - now that we have the angle, should we remove the inner lines?
