Agreed. Dell were terrible, their laptops and budget PCs probably still are, but their high end workstations are rather good. We have 20 dual-core intels with 4Gb of RAM at Uni just for XSI and they chomp through stuff and are quiet whilst doing so.

Still needs some stoppers imo. Could even get away with curving the rails up a bit at the end like such \______/ but not as steep and more curvey. Would save adding new texture bits and could reuse existing stuff.

The Arctic Monkeys did a similar thing, got known on the internet via myspace first with free stuff then released stuff for money.
-
To be honest if you want a DSLR, get a Nikon or a Canon. Anything else and you'll be kicking yourself for years to come.

Needs stoppers to make it not fly off into oblivion.

Do some Volcanic black sand then. Definatly needs less brown.

Could always let the player decide on the camera zoom, close, medium, far.

I'm still kicking it oldschool and basing my prices off instore stuff, yeah online is cheaper but still for those that dont have credit/debit cards and rely on parents buying it theres still that angle.

I still think cost is the main reason why PC games don't sell. I buy my PC games from Gamestation (a UK games store that has a massive selection of both new and second hand games for many systems) simply due to the fact that I'm not gonna pay £30-£50 for a new game (hell, 360 games can get to £60 new). That is fucking ridiculous. Period.
Last few games I bought was a bundle of Silent Hunter III and Brothers In Arms: EiB for £9.99. Before that was BF1942,MoH:AA,C&C:Generals, Company of Heroes and Dawn of War for £9.99 for all of them... Sure they are not new and shiny but they are fun. Making a game like Crysis which has all bells and whistles but can only run on a small proportion of the market, then tagging it with a £40 price is a recipe for failure.
I'm pretty sure the profit margins would be low/non-existant if you made new games £10-20 but hell if you're getting 90% piracy rates its probably worth a shot anyway. There are people that will not even pay that for games but you'll never be able to get them to convert anyway.
The student market is huge and simply don't have the money to spend £40 on a game, for me thats pretty much a fortnights worth of food, maybe longer. Combined with the easy access to these things on torrents its pretty much a no-brainer. Make them cheaper, more will be bought.

Quote from seir
only if you don't need to buy some lenses - you'll need to chose those with a motor for AFi had it in my hands and it's like a toy - a lot of "WYSIWYG" picture changers etc. if you wan't to upload photos on myspace it's a good choice.
The lens thing isn't an issue anymore, back when the D40 originally came out but theres now a decent selection of AF-S lens' to choose from, except in the macro area. Then again using AF on macro shots its a bit dumb, should have a tripod and MF anyway.
The WYSIWYG thing is on pretty much every Nikon DSLR, not just something the D60 has, even the top end consumer stuff like D200,D300's have it. Its certainly not a reason to not buy it, I've never used those features on my D40 as its much inferior to tweaking the .NEF files by hand.
Edit: Heres a list of len's that support the D40/D40X/D60 AF function:
http://www.nikonians.org/forums/dcboard ... c_id=13319
70 odd which pretty much covers every eventuality, if you need something thats not on the list then you probably shouldnt buy the D40/D40X/D60 to start with

The new D60 is getting some pretty good reviews and is looking to be very worth the money, especially with the kit 18-55 with VR.

Awesome.
I take it if you go off course you're gonna make the karts slow down?
-
Looks good. You have blatently stolen those gantries from valve maps though

The iPhone would have to shit out money to make me buy one over a Nokia equivilant.
-
Does it have ambient occlusion actually? Doesnt look like it. Would tidy the lighting up immensely.

Yeah, I need to buy UT3 Collectors edition soon....must...learn...tools.
Oh well, only 3 months till the degree is over and I have time to learn stuff before job hunting.

Last week the University I go to banned MapCore because of the trojan alerts.

Map looks good, didnt get to play it with more than 2v2 though:
[*:lozp533j]Doors seem massive, interior ones feel like their 20ft tall
[*:lozp533j]Bombers flying overhead get very annoying, increase delay on the loop
[*:lozp533j]Interior brightness of windows seems *too* bright compared to outdoors
[*:lozp533j]Kolsch kegs stand out like a sore thumb, red needs toning down
[*:lozp533j]Kolsch sign outer glow looks odd
