tbh, all LordNed's comments still stand.

Hehe nice Ginger, you should get Uncharted 2 too ASAP tho

Plan to!
There was a 120gb console +UC2 bundle, but it was £250 for it and 1 other PS3 game so took the bundle for 250GB Slim and 3 games from a selection. Luckily the selection was awesome, the ones I didn't pick out of it were Resistance 2/GT5 Prologue and 3 other random weird ones.

Never had a PS2 so can't see myself wanting to play any of the games so backwards compatability isnt an issue for me. I was a Nintendo boy back then so I have everything I want on the N64 and my Wii can do NGC games. As for playing online, general match making is good enough I reckon. Most people I know from Uni have a 360 but tbh, I'd rather play with complete strangers than them

Incidentally, everyone I know from Uni has had their 360 sent back to MS at some point.
Games that I can think of that I'd buy:
Uncharted 1+2
GT5 (eventually lol)
LBP
Assassins Creed 1+2
R6 Vegas 1+2
NFS Shift
GTA4
Mirrors Edge
Borderlands
L4D2 (maybe..)
The end ones are cross platform so not a massive issue, top ones PS3 exclusive afaik and out of the MS exclusive ones I've played GoW at Uni and found it meh, Halo is boring as hell to me. Probably throw in Killzone and Resistance too at some point.
I'd mostly buy my games second hand from Gamestation so initial price isn't too bad (and if it doesnt work, they replace it anyway so no loss)
Edit: Whilst I seem to have made my mind up on PS3, there is still something nagging me about the 360 in the back of my mind...

With the advent of the PS3 slim, things have got a bit more interesting. Thinking of getting one as the Wii is great for group games but lacks some decent SP stuff outside of Mario/Zelda. That and it could be useful to have played the games of places I've applied too

Seems like its much of a muchness between the PS3 Slim and 360 Elite on the games front. No Forza, but gain GT5. MGS isn't interesting to me either, LBP is!
Once I took into account all the hidden prices of the 360 Elite (Live Gold + retardedly prices wireless adaptor) it comes out a lot more expensive than the PS3. Controllers are pretty similar priced.
+ Blu-Ray
+ Better reliability than 360
+ Free online MP
+ Internet browser?
+ Built in wireless
+ Wont sound like I have a 747 on take off next to my TV
- Misses a few MS only games...but none I would die for.
- Online MP not as easy as Live!?
Thoughts from current PS3 owners would be appreciated, same for Xbox folk.

Good stuff but some of the maps don't look very "lived in". Theres no debris and clutter/junk to break up the large expanses of open terrain.
-
When I viewed it at 1440*900 on my 19" it cut off the right hand panels but that was only due to me having my bookmarks tab open on left side.
When closed it just fitted. It's a good portfolio but imo...needs more. I know less is the new more but when I opened it I expected loads of stuff to look at not just 1 pic per catagory.

I wish they gave me one of those keys for the testing I did!
It's not because of the testing but by being a Steam moderator.
I know quite a few people that got them for just doing the DoDS testing. I'd say 95% of the test team, so far I found Faceman and myself were in the 5% that handily got forgotten for various inconvenient reasons

Ginger Lord agrees with the above statement and recommends you spend more time planning and working on maps, rather than trying to get them done quickly.

there is a deal a guy at work got, which is get a contract phone for a year, and get a free ps3 - i think i'll go for that ;D
I saw some of them around here, then realised I'd be paying about £250 a year + any other bills (there are tons of limits to those phones like 1 hour max call time per call, else charge) for it just to get a PS3...
Guess it's ok if your contract phone is currently less than £20/mo otherwise not worth it. Doesn't help me as I'm on the basic vodafone contract of £14/mo and unlimited texts/300 mins a month.

ginger: Can you elaborate on what this means "The tread area looks bare as its got that plate covering the bogey wheels, so can either keep it real or remove it to make it look more interesting or cut "access" notches into it."
I'm talking about this metal plate here:
[Blocked Image: http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/9019/cat235.th.jpg]
You could (even though its unrealistic) add some cutouts (green) to show the detail inside to make it look less bare and boring. The tracks could do with being dirty in the recesses too, even if its dried dust. Looks like it's not been moved since it came from the factory, they would fill up with stuff and the bits where it hit the road would wear to a bright shiny clean metal.
Here's a dirty one:

Seems like the tread area fills with crap anyway, could be interesting to model but going away from your initial intention of a cleanish model.

massive sigh... i am going to have to get a ps3 for this aren't i?fucks sake. i guess it's about time.
Ditto.
Currently hoarding as many discount vouchers and checking for bundle deals 24/7. Have £10 on amazon.co.uk from various surveys, could be another £20 if i subscribe to lovefilm... Have £11 on my GAME card. £10 in credit at gamestation.
Dammit why can't I combine them!

It looks unnatural to me. I see these sort of things on a weekly basis in a scrapyard so whilst they arn't the cleanest, there are about 20 in varying states of decay.
Yours looks brand new that has been scratched up, rather than used. Round where all the hydraulic pipes (which should be black anyway not yellow) go should be black and dirty where fluid has leaked out and dirt stuck to it. There should be soot and exhaust based dirt round the vents (these get filthy within minutes). Mud on the footplates where you get in the cab etc. Dirty hydraulic ram arms with really clean vertical streaks where the fit isn't quite right so it rubs them. Mud flicking up from the tracks would stick to the underside of the bodywork too.
The tread area looks bare as its got that plate covering the bogey wheels, so can either keep it real or remove it to make it look more interesting or cut "access" notches into it.

Been a bit more brutal on the front page and dropped the 3D stuff, will add it again once I have more game specific stuff to show off. Cut down the about but too, no point explaining what I did in the maps there and on the maps pages.
Also changed the red font to a medium grey for less cross eye action, it was a bit mental.
