disable shadows on the vertical stones, and when applicable, use info_lighting entities to specify where they should pick their light source

I'll post the target of my own shortcut later when I get home. Maybe that can do the trick.

Actually one thing I remember is that you need to set the same -friendsbeta whatever suffix to any shortcut if you're running Steam with it

Shortcuts don't work anymore. If you can't access it by lauching the SDK, you can go into the sourcesdk/bin folder and run it from there, it should work.

They do work, I launch Hammer everyday using them.

any chance you're running the sdk tools from shortcuts? if so, try launching them from within steam. After the initial launch, you could go back to using the shortcuts

No 2 castles have the same surrounding terrain. In fact by the looks of it many of them are surrounded by rolling hills and trees, much like my map. Some have alot more trees, some have open fields. Most are built from one type of brick or stone, so as far as textures they are consistently the same.

Actually it would be the other way around, most castles stand on top of big hills or small mountains, because that's what they were made for: to see from afar the incoming enemies before they stormed the village(s) down below. Then all the peasants would run inside the castle for protection yadda yadda yadda....

Anyway, the map looks too bright yes, then again I'll give it an A+ on its originality. I never was a fan of the original map, but if you've made it a lot more playable, then it's an A++

If you're gonna get it, pick up a console version (PS2, GC, Xbox). Don't even try the PC port, or you'll be disappointed. It's buggy to say the least.

    Now that's sexy

  • Why do you do this?

    • Furyo
    • August 19, 2006 at 1:08 AM

It sounds corny as hell, but I like to think one of the main reasons I enjoy it so much is because of the idea that someone somewhere may one day play my stuff and be "entertained" by it.

Of course that first someone is me, and I just enjoy building stuff and mechanics, like others said, but the idea that someone else may enjoy it too is just as strong.

That's coming from someone once in marketing, who didn't want to work in it anymore, seen as marketing is anything but making something someone may enjoy.
