Well my contract has been up for two weeks, but I've just signed with Ubisoft Montréal so I'll start there in about two months, visa allowing.

Many thanks to all the Mapcorians who have helped either directly or indirectly in my job hunt, you guys know who you are I only wish I can return the favor some day.

I would argue that the idea they're irradiated isn't sold as well as it could. A cool glow around the leaves would be very nice, especially if that glow was animated on/off slowly.

At the moment, it just looks like someone's put the selfillum line in the vmt for no real reason....

Great work obviously. I can see from these screenies how stretched the Source engine must have felt like...especially without the episode II era improvements

Do you think that's why you sometimes see someone playing with your own name? Happened to me twice yesterday, and it seemed like a a bug, but that would explain it.

In that case, the answer to the last question is partially yes too, cause when you realize someone has your own name, something's gotta give...

Areaportals are the single most useful optim tool in Source, whether in MP or SP.

In MP, they just have to remain open at all times. A toggle would be forced on the server, and that'll cause lag

    Areaportalwindows are forced client side.

In other words, you'd have paid the exact same price if Valve hadn't decided to put the complete previous chapters in the package, so those who never played those game would get the full picture.

I beat the game on Friday, and I haven't read this thread either, but I was disappointed by the ending.

The boss fight was way too easy and quick, as you could just fill yourself with napalm and exploding buck. I would have enjoyed a fight till the last bullet, or using some sort of story trick to kill him (like making him have an adam overdose).

And the worst part was the story. Cheesy ending but I don't really mind. It was the way the story conclusion felt rushed. I kept having these images pop up in my head from time to time, and it was never used as a story plot, then all of a sudden this guy tells me I'm the closest thing he's ever had to a son, and he put me in a submarine...ok what the hell? Why did you feel the need to put me in a sub in the first place, what was my "mission" etc.

Didn't feel like there'd be an extension pack or a Bioshock 2 either...

Last I checked, HL was up at 7 million copies total, and HL2 at 4.5.

There are however other games I would have thought to score better. Including at least one Zelda game....
