Yeah absolutely nothing of what this former employer says is even remotely surprising to me. I haven't worked at Pandemic, but I know a few stories that definitely would send signals to anyone that this would eventually happen. As far as Saboteur, yes EA is definitely sending it to die. The hype is close to none, and the marketing even less.

Yes that's him. Leonardo da Vinci is voiced by Gears of War's Dominic, and the thief leader you'll meet in Venice is voiced by RE5's lead character too.

You guys gotta realize that while 1500 sounds like a big number, perhaps only a 3rd of that are extra casualties of the current market. EA has hired contractors and fired people at the end of certain projects for as long as I can remember.

Mino is in Sao Paulo but yeah we've talked about working together at one point. I remain a Canadian employee and this is just a mission. Of course I have yet to see a mission that hasn't ended with the full employment of the employee at the end of it, but you never know. For now I intend to return to Montreal at one point.

A few here already know about this, but it's time to announce it as I got all the details just now....I'm leaving Ubisoft Montreal for a few months at Ubisoft Porto Alegre, Brazil, where I will act as the lead level designer on a brand new production from a studio Ubisoft recently acquired. I start there next monday and can't wait to discover the amazing team, city and country. Our own Arhurt is a level designer there so that's twice the fun

Now to organize the trip in 4 days....

I agree with Furyo that we shouldn't be insulting each other or ranting from soap boxes or whatever, but dude, if you don't see the appeal of consistent server environments then you're way out of touch with the advantages of PC multiplayer. I played TF2 nearly every day for almost a year and a half from when I got it, and 99% of those games were on the same group of servers, the "Lost Continent" Something Awful servers. If I didn't have that community to go to every time I felt like playing, that I mostly knew and enjoyed, playing in an environment that I knew always had an admin or two on, and had a strict "no shithead" policy, the attraction of TF2 would've been nowhere near as high.

I do get every last bit of this conversation on either side. I play on my PC (L4D) daily and I enjoy having the benefit of using a private server for my friends and I. My post was about the means, not the end. As you agreed, Mapcore is not a place where we should insult each other.

I'd also add to all of this, and this isn't restricted to this thread, that I would like to hold Mapcore to a higher standard than some of the replies I've seen here. There is no way we should act like some random commenters on Neogaf, Kotaku and so on. We know better than this, and when we don't we generally have the members on the game's team to shed some light on the whole thing as Composite has just clearly said.

I've been once at IW, I interviewed there right before MW shipped two years ago. They were nothing but the most knowledgeable and professional FPS developers I've ever met or worked with, and MW proved that ten folds with its success. So to go on a soapbox and pretend they have never played any PC game before is highly pretentious and totally stupid, even as a failed humorous reply.

Sorry but if like me you are interested in MW2 for its SP alone then you clearly aren't in your main target group.

Should murdering a load of women and children in cold blood be fun? I think they do need to be mutually exclusive. Just like how when watching Schindler's List I didn't sit there with a big smile on my face like I do during an adrenaline-fuelled action movie, but I did still enjoy the experience. 'Entertaining' was a shit word to use though, I couldn't think of a good equivalent to 'fun' in a movie context.

    Involving? Demanding? Challenging?

Guys, from a commercial perspective, anything this controversial would probably never even get made. When you're that big and have Walmart and Best Buy that can decide not to store your product on their shelves because of the bad brand image it would give them, you can be certain no publisher will let something that gratuitous take place. And before you take GTA as the counter example, remember that the biggest controversy there ever was was over modded content that was locked to anyone not unlocking it.

As Composite said, I think everyone should take a breather here and try and see this level inside the game. You have no idea what goes on before or after this, or even the identity of the person you're playing as, so there may be some light to shed on the whole thing still.

In case you haven't seen this yet, the PS3 was just announced to have the same Netflix deal the X360 has. Starts next month in the US.
